MRO Americas 2025: Day One - What To Expect

Aviation Week's team record an episode of the MRO Podcast on stage in front of an audience for the first time at MRO Americas 2024.
Aviation Week Network's MRO Americas Conference will kick off at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, April 8, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, located at 285 Andrew Young International Blvd NW.
The first day will begin with a welcome address from Robert Cooney, Delta Air Lines' director of fleet engineering.
Next, the event will feature two annual awards: The Nuts & Bolts Award, presented by the Airlines for America EMMC leadership, which honors exceptional service and contributions in the engineering or maintenance fields. In addition, Aviation Week Network will present its 2025 MRO Lifetime Achievement Award.
John Laughter, executive vice president, chief of operations and president of Delta TechOps, will discuss how Delta is positioning its MRO for the future, including using technologies such as AI and drones to enhance efficiency.
Robin Hayes, chairman and CEO of Airbus North America, will participate in a Fireside Chat with Christine Boynton, Aviation Week Network’s senior editor, air transport.
Following that, Brian Kough, senior director of forecasts and aerospace insights at Aviation Week Network, and Daniel Williams, director of fleet data services, will provide analysis on the current outlook for MRO demand and critical market trends, including the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Just before lunch, a panel discussion on AI will take place, focusing on key opportunities, recommended practices, and potential complications surrounding data ownership, compliance and quality. Marhesh Marvu, industry transformation advisor at Microsoft, will moderate the discussion, which will include representatives from FEAM Aero, SkySelect, and Trax.
After lunch, don’t miss the workforce session called “Welcome The Apprentice,” where students and new industry entrants share insights on training, challenges, and strategies for fostering and retaining talent.
The conversation will then shift to sustainability, examining how industry sustainability targets impact maintenance practices. Hear from Airlines for America, Southwest Airlines, ICF and FedEx.
Key industry executives from Boeing, PSA Airlines, HEICO and JetBlue will discuss how to avoid supply chain constraints during a panel from 1:30-2:10.
Finding solutions to the juniority problem will be a timely panel with AAR, Pratt & Whtiney, MHI RJ Aviation Group and JetsMRO, moderated by Lindsay Bjerregaard of Aviation Week.
Closing out the day, JetZero’s Sonny Stern will discuss customer support for the company’s blended wing body aircraft, and then executives from Alligent Travel, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, A4A, GE Aerospace and Alaska Airlines will discuss cybersecurity threats and ways to stay ahead of those threats.
