Boeing Plans Sale Of Digital Assets

Boeing has entered a definitive agreement to sell portions of its Digital Aviation Solutions business—including Jeppesen, ForeFlight, AerData and OzRunway assets—to software investment firm Thoma Bravo. The OEM will retain what it says are core digital capabilities that harness aircraft and fleet-specific data to provide customers with fleet maintenance, diagnostics and repair services, as well as predictive and prognostic maintenance insights.

MRO Japan, Quest Global Partner On AI

MRO Japan has signed an agreement with engineering solutions provider Quest Global Services to collaborate on the use of artificial intelligence to improve aircraft maintenance operational efficiencies and to reduce reliance on manual tasks performed by maintenance staff.

De Havilland Canada Taps Universal Avionics For Dash 8 Cockpit Upgrades

Universal Avionics has signed an agreement with De Havilland Aircraft of Canada to supply avionics for flight deck upgrades on Dash 8-100 and 8-200 aircraft. The upgrade involves replacing aging cathode ray tube equipment with Universal Avionics’ InSight flight display system, which adds five high-resolution liquid crystal displays with improved synthetic vision and digital engine indication. It also features dual touchscreen controllers and Kapture recorders to streamline pilot and maintenance workflows.

Air Central Picks StandardAero For CFM56 MRO

Chinese cargo carrier Air Central has signed a deal with StandardAero covering CFM International CFM56-7B engine MRO services for its Boeing 737-800BCF fleet. StandardAero inducted the first of Air Central’s CFM56-7Bs for a performance restoration shop visit last month at its Winnipeg, Canada, facility. StandardAero also provides CFM56 family services from its facility at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Coulson Aviation Launches Maintenance Engineer Scholarship

Aerial firefighting specialist Coulson Aviation has partnered with the British Columbia Aviation Council to launch an aircraft maintenance engineer – structures scholarship. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition, training and tools at Coulson Aviation Academy in Port Alberni, British Columbia, Canada, and provides on-the-job training through a hybrid apprenticeship model, exam preparation for Transport Canada certification and guaranteed employment at Coulson Aviation upon successful program completion.

Muirhead Avionics Rolls Out New Sustainability Initiatives

Muirhead Avionics/Ametek MRO has partnered with The Royal Mint in the UK to recycle and extract precious metals, including gold, from waste circuit boards. In addition, the company has rolled out several other sustainability initiatives at its new facility near Heathrow Airport, including installing solar panels, green living walls, electric vehicle chargers, smart lighting and electronic insulating blinds on windows.

Ural Airlines Adds Landing Gear Maintenance Services

Ural Airlines has launched Airbus landing gear maintenance services at its technical center and says it is the first company with such capability in Russia. It will now offer landing gear services to Russian airlines operating Airbus family aircraft.

Cargo carrier Amerijet International Airlines has selected Trax’s eMRO and eMobility suite software products to digitalize its maintenance operations.

FL Technics has adopted 8tree’s dentCHECK 3D dent-mapping technology at its base maintenance facilities in Vilnius and Kaunas, Lithuania.

LOTAMS Becomes First European E2 Service Center

LOTAMS has been named Europe’s first Embraer Authorized Service Center for the E2 aircraft family. It will be providing routine checks, component repairs, and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. LOTAMS has been providing ERJ 145 and first-generation E-Jet services since 2012.

Airbus Taps VAS For More A380 Teardowns

Airbus has selected VAS Aero Services to manage teardown and redistribution of used serviceable material from three Airbus A380s being taken out of service. VAS will work with partner Tarmac Aerosave on the aircraft teardowns and harvested parts will be positioned in Europe for customers throughout the EMEA region. The deal brings VAS’s total A380 dismantlement projects to 13.

Cebu Pacific Picks AFI KLM E&M For A320 Support

Cebu Pacific Air and AFI KLM E&M signed a component support agreement for the airline’s Airbus A320 family fleet and an agreement for CFM International CFM56-5B shop visits and on-wing/on-site support. Cebu Pacific recently placed an order for 102 confirmed and 50 optional A320/A321neo aircraft—the largest aircraft order in the Philippines’ history.

Delta TechOps signed a 10-year integrated MRO agreement with UPS to service the cargo carrier’s Pratt & Whitney PW2037 engines.

SF Airlines Taps HAECO For 747 Checks

Chinese cargo carrier SF Airlines has selected HAECO to provide C checks for its Boeing 747 freighter fleet. The deal includes three 747 base maintenance inputs in 2025 and long-term hangar slot reservations for 10 747 inputs from 2026-30. HAECO will provide the checks from its facilities in Hong Kong.

Aircraft Propeller Service Facility Completes FAA Audit

Aircraft Propeller Service has successfully completed an FAA audit of its upcoming maintenance center in Kuala Lumpur and received certification. The facility, which is slated to open soon, will first offer propeller maintenance for ATR 72s and Airbus C295s, with plans to expand MRO capabilities over time.

Northwest Aerospace Technologies Gets License For 787 Cabin Mods

Boeing granted Northwest Aerospace Technologies a limited license to handle cabin design and engineering for modifications of the 787 and to develop FAA supplemental type certificates for what it says is a defined number of aircraft. The license includes Boeing supplying parts for the modifications and providing technical support.

Air Support Named Eaton’s First EMEA Aerospace Service Center

Engine component MRO provider Air Support has signed an agreement with Eaton to become its first authorized service center in the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. Air Support will provide local repair and overhaul of Eaton’s engine fuel components for large commercial aircraft from its facilities in Pujaudran, France.

Kenya Airways Picks Embraer Inventory Program

Kenya Airways signed an agreement for Embraer’s Collaborative Inventory Planning program. The deal covers inventory support for 13 E190s.

CTS Engines Becomes GE Aerospace Offload Partner

GE Aerospace selected CTS Engines as an official offload partner to provide MRO support for the CF6-80E1 engine, which powers the Airbus A330. CTS’s engine hub in Coral Springs, Florida, supports mature engine programs such as various CF6 models, the Engine Alliance GP7200 and Pratt & Whitney PW2000.

Satair, Stelia Aerospace Renew Spares Distribution Deal

Satair and Stelia Aerospace signed a renewed spares distribution agreement at Aircraft Interiors Expo. Satair will continue as the exclusive distributor in the Middle East for spare parts for Stelia Aerospace pilot and premium passenger seats.

LATAM Opts For Aviatar

LATAM Airlines Group has signed up for Lufthansa Technik’s Aviatar platform, including its Predictive Health Analytics and Electronic Technical Logbook applications. LATAM will implement Aviatar across its Airbus A320, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 fleets.

Delta, Pratt Expand GTF Overhaul Capacity

Delta Air Lines and Pratt & Whitney have signed an agreement to expand geared turbofan (GTF) engine overhaul capacity at Delta TechOps’ Atlanta facility over the next decade by more than 30%. Delta TechOps plans to overhaul up to 450 engines annually.

AFI KLM E&M Extends GE90 Support Deal

AFI KLM E&M has extended its General Electric GE90 engine maintenance contract with CMA CGM Air Cargo, original signed in 2022, to 2030. AFI KLM E&M will continue to provide engine and component support to the French cargo carrier.

Austrian Installs AeroSHARK On Four 777-200ERs

Austrian Airlines has installed Lufthansa Technik (LHT) and BASF’s AeroSHARK surface film on four of its Boeing 777-200ERs. LHT estimates the technology on the four aircraft will save Austrian around 2,650 metric tons of fuel and more than 8,300 metric tons of CO₂ emissions by 2028.

Merlin Gets New Zealand Part 145 Certification

Autonomous flight technology developer Merlin has been awarded Part 145 maintenance approval in New Zealand to conduct maintenance on aircraft operated by Part 121 and Part 135 organizations. According to Merlin CEO Grant Crenfeldt, the certification demonstrates the company’s “commitment to implementing autonomy in a way that upholds the industry’s high safety standards.”

Heston Materials Adds Engines Division

Heston Materials is adding an Engines Division, which it says will help it fully monetize mid-life narrowbody aviation assets and offer end-to-end solutions to customers. The division will initially focus on CFM International CFM56-5B, -7B and IAE V2500 engines, offering services such as teardowns, module swaps, light repairs, engine build-up projects and short-term leases combined with teardown.

Porter Airlines Plans Halifax Maintenance Expansion

Porter Airlines has announced plans to lease a 20,000 ft.² hangar at Halifax Stanfield International Airport to expand its maintenance operations. The facility will provide dedicated maintenance capacity for the airline’s Embraer E195-E2 and De Havilland Dash 8-400 fleets. Porter says the new facility will also create local job opportunities for roles such as aircraft maintenance engineers and material handlers.

United Building New Orlando Maintenance Complex

United Airlines has broken ground on a new maintenance complex at Orlando International Airport. The 354,400 ft.² campus will have two hangars, shops, offices, and work areas, and it will be able to accommodate six narrowbodies or one widebody and three narrowbodies simultaneously. United is investing $315 million in the project, which is expected to be completed by late 2027.

SAS Extends TP Aerospace Wheels And Brakes Deal

TP Aerospace has extended its Cycle Flat Rate Program partnership with SAS Scandinavian Airlines, which includes supplying well-maintained wheels and brakes to support the airline’s fleet of Airbus A320 family, A330, A350, and Boeing 737NG aircraft. SAS has been utilizing the program with TP Aerospace since 2019.

PSA Airlines Plans New Knoxville Maintenance Base

PSA Airlines announced plans to open a new maintenance base at McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville, Tennessee. The base—PSA’s tenth—will employ nearly 100 staff and focus on B checks for the regional carrier’s fleet.

Atitech Gets Malaysian Line Maintenance Approval In Osaka

Italian MRO Atitech has obtained approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia to provide line maintenance services to Malaysian Airlines at Osaka Kansai International Airport.

Joramco Signs IndiGo, TIM Aerospace Agreements

Joramco has signed an agreement with IndiGo to conduct heavy maintenance checks and end of lease services for the Indian low-cost carrier’s fleet. Joramco also signed a framework agreement with TIM Aerospace to cooperate on MRO, which it says will include engaging in joint commercial and operational aspects to expand market reach and increase capacity for airlines and operators.

Reno Air Racing Launches AMT Scholarship Program

The Reno Air Racing Association has opened a new airframe and powerplant scholarship program in partnership with Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell (ENMU-Roswell) that will provide financial assistance—including tuition, tooling, supplies and testing fees—up to $10,000 per student. The scholarship is open to Chaves County and Southeastern New Mexico residents who maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average and 80% attendance throughout ENMU-Roswell’s aviation maintenance technology program.
