Qatar Airways is expanding its presence in Latin America, adding routes to Colombia and Venezuela in early summer 2025.

The new service will increase the airline’s destinations in the Americas to 16.

The flights will connect Doha’s Hamad International Airport to Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport, continuing onward to Caracas Simon Bolivar International Airport. The return leg from Caracas will operate nonstop to Doha. The route will be served twice weekly using Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.

Qatar Airways becomes the second Middle Eastern carrier to serve Colombia, following Emirates’ one-stop daily service to Bogotá via Miami, launched in June 2024. The airline will also be the first from the Middle East to serve Venezuela.

“This marks a transformative moment for Qatar Airways,” Group CEO Mohammed Al-Meer says, adding that the new routes will foster “connections between people, cultures, and commerce.”

The Doha-Bogotá leg, spanning about 8,253 mi. (7,172 nm), will rank as the third-longest flight in the airline’s network, following services to Auckland and Los Angeles.

Qatar Airways becomes the second international carrier in the past week to confirm plans to fly to Venezuela following Brazil’s GOL Linhas Aéreas’ decision to launch a route from Brasilia International Airport to Caracas, via Bogotá. The move marks GOL’s return to the Venezuelan market for the first time since February 2016.

In Latin America, Qatar Airways currently offers passenger flights to just one destination, serving Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport double-daily aboard 777-200LR and Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.
