IndiGo To Start Flying Hyderabad-Bangkok Route, Competing Against Thai Airways
IndiGo will launch flights next month between Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), which will become the airline’s 14th international destination served from HYD.
The nonstop service will be operated daily from Feb. 26 with an Airbus A320 family aircraft. The carrier will compete against Thai Airways on the route. Thai operates BKK-HYD flights with a Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
IndiGo becomes the first Indian airline to fly between HYD and BKK.
When the new route launches, the airline notes it will have grown from eight to 14 international destinations served from HYD since February 2023.
IndiGo already operates flights to BKK from five Indian cities: Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. The airline notes it will operate 37 weekly flights between India and Bangkok when the new route launches. IndiGo also operates 20 weekly flights from Indian airports to Phuket in Thailand.
Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s head of global sales, says the new route is “in line with our vision to enhance accessibility across Southeast Asia... The new route not only signifies our commitment to expanding connectivity but also serves as a bridge between two culturally rich destinations.”
