Qantas will mark the end of an era with the departure of one of its Boeing 717 jets, the first of its type to be registered and flown in Australia.

Omani LCC SalamAir, which has ordered six E195 E2s and placed purchase rights for a further six, is a regional jet first-timer.

The Belgian unit of European leisure airline TUI Airways has acquired Embraer E195-E2s.

Embraer believes the market for crossover jets is steadily increasing and will form a seam that can be profitably mined by its E2 series of regional jets.

A slew of deals for Embraer jets have been announced, including firm orders for six E195-E2s for Binter and seven more E175s for American Airlines.

Embraer sees world demand for 11,000 new commercial airliners in the 150-seat or smaller range over the next 20 years.

The carrier seeks a 30-day waiver of revocation-for-dormancy provisions, “in order to recommence operations on or about Sept. 1, 2023.”

Toronto-based Porter Airlines recently took delivery of the Embraer E195 E2 aircraft during a special ceremony at Embraer’s headquarters in Brazil.
