Embraer named OGMA as the first MRO partner for its E-Jet E2 aircraft in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
The Alverca-based company has become an authorized maintenance center for the aircraft following approval from Portuguese regulator Autoridade Nacional da Aviação Civil (ANAC).
Under the approval, announced at the Embraer Operators Conference held in Portugal this week, OGMA will perform heavy maintenance services for the E-Jet E2 comprised of E175-E2, E-190-E2 and E195-E2 variants.
The announcement coincides with the signing of an agreement with Norwegian carrier Wilderoe to carry out the first maintenance of an E2 aircraft worldwide.
“Being the first Embraer authorized maintenance center for the E2 in the EMEA region is an important credential for OGMA in such a competitive and demanding sector as the international aviation market. This is just the starting point of an important cycle for the company's growth, with more business, new customers, and opportunities,” says Alexandre Solis, CEO of OGMA.
OGMA has provided maintenance services on older E-Jet programs since 2007, carrying out around 50 C checks on those aircraft during that period. It also has conducted more than 300 C checks on Embraer ERJ aircraft over the last 20-plus years.
“Obtaining [the E-Jet E2] certification by OGMA is a crucial strategic step to strengthen Embraer's presence in the EMEA region and is an unmistakable sign of the continued commitment we make to Portugal as a leading technological partner in the country's aeronautical industry,” adds Johann Bordais, president and CEO, Embraer Services and Support.
