AFI KLM E&M, Air Canada Agree 787 Component Deal

Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) and Air Canada have signed a 10-year contract for component support services for Boeing 787 aircraft. The agreement, the first component support contract between the two airlines, includes the creation of a dedicated pool stock in Toronto to support Air Canada's 787 fleet. The contract will initially cover a fleet of 39 787 aircraft from May with Air Canada set to expand its fleet to 58 787s by 2029. Additionally, the agreement includes an option for 12 more aircraft.

HAECO To Support Tigerair Taiwan A320 Fleet

HAECO has signed a new agreement with Tigerair Taiwan to conduct end-of-lease checks for its Airbus A320 aircraft fleet from its maintenance facilities in Hong Kong. The agreement encompasses five inputs between 2026 and 2028 and will support Tigerair Taiwan's initiative to upgrade its A320 fleet.

SolitAir Picks Aero Inspection For CAMO Services

United Arab Emirates-based cargo airline SolitAir has selected Aero Inspection to provide continuing airworthiness management organization (CAMO) services. Based in Shannon, Ireland with offices in Dubai and Singapore, Aero Inspection is a technical consultancy with European Union Aviation Safety Agency CAMO approval.

Norse Atlantic Taps Magnetic Line In Berlin

Magnetic Line has announced a new partnership with Norse Atlantic Airways, through which it will provide technical support and line maintenance services at the airline’s Berlin Brandenburg Airport station.

Qatar Airways Accelerates Starlink Installations

Qatar Airways reported that it has installed Starlink on 50% of its Boeing 777 fleet by accelerating its rollout timeline. The airline says it has cut installation time per aircraft from 2-3 days to 9.5 hr. Qatar Airways says it has eliminated operational impacts by timing installations to fit within a 12-hr. overnight timeframe.

Maverick Aviation Group Acquires NDT Provider

Aviation services provider Maverick Aviation Group has acquired Vision Inspection Services Canada, a non-destructive testing (NDT) service provider. Maverick will now offer localized NDT and tool calibration services at Edmonton, Calgary and Kelowna International Airports in Canada.

Qatar Airways, Thales Plan Doha IFE Maintenance Center

Qatar Airways and Thales have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a dedicated inflight entertainment (IFE) service and maintenance center in Doha. The companies say the partnership will grow Qatar’s MRO ecosystem and bring skilled jobs to the country.

Air Canada Picks AFI KLM E&M For 787 Component Support

Air Canada has signed a 10-year component support contract with AFI KLM E&M covering its 58 Boeing 787s. The deal includes the establishment of a new pool of stock positioned in Toronto and an option for 12 additional 787s to support Air Canada’s expanding operations.

Safran Pursues UAE Engine MRO Collaboration

Safran Aircraft Engines has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Abu Dhabi Aviation to collaborate on military MRO services. Abu Dhabi Aviation is the holding company of aerospace and defense services provider GAL and military MRO provider AMMROC.

Louisiana Approves First MRO Apprenticeship Program

The state of Louisiana has approved its first aviation maintenance apprenticeship program, which connects Sowela Technical Community College aviation maintenance students with a paid apprenticeship at VVIP aircraft completions and services provider Citadel Completions. The students will receive on-the-job training during the two-year apprenticeship and an opportunity to secure a full-time position upon graduation.

SriLankan Engineering has signed a long-term agreement with Malaysia Airlines to provide line maintenance for its flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

GA Telesis Gets New Sustainability Certifications

GA Telesis has achieved ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 certifications, pertaining to occupational health and safety and reducing carbon footprint through an energy management system. President and CEO Abdol Moabery says the company wants to create “a safety and sustainability culture within the aviation and aerospace ecosystem.”

Avia Solutions Group has launched its Global Services Philippines center in Manila, which will provide technical and flight operations support to its airlines and MROs. The company says it chose the Philippines for reasons including its skilled talent pool and the region’s fast-growing air travel market.

VietJet Taps Satair For Material Services Support

VietJet Air has signed a multi-year Integrated Material Services agreement with Satair covering consignment stock and pooling support for expendables across its Airbus A320 and A330 fleet.

Royal Jordanian Signs Boeing 787 Services Agreements

Royal Jordanian signed several support agreements with Boeing covering 787-9 component services, the OEM’s 787 landing gear exchange program and connectivity modifications for its 787-8 fleet.

Ethiopian Airlines Signs Airbus Support Contract

Ethiopian Airlines has signed a seven-year Flight Hour Services contract with Airbus covering maintenance on its fleet of 24 A350s. The airline will receive dedicated on-site stock in Addis Ababa and access to the OEM’s global material pools, as well as repair and engineering support for rotable parts.

Air Cote d’Ivoire Extends AFI KLM E&M Component Contract

Air Cote d’Ivoire has extended its component support contract with AFI KLM E&M for an additional five year. The renewed agreement covers the airline’s Airbus fleet expansion, including the addition of three A320 family aircraft and two A330neo aircraft.

Indian Carriers Sign Turkish Technic MRO Deals

IndiGo and Air India Express signed MRO agreements with Turkish Technic at MRO Middle East. Turkish Technic will provide redelivery checks of IndiGo’s 10 Airbus A320neos, and it is in discussions for another agreement covering landing gear overhauls for the aircraft. Turkish Technic will also provide component support for Air India Express’s 190 Boeing 737-8s and -10s, including pooling, repair, overhaul, modification and logistics services.

New Dubai MRO Selects EmpowerMX

Upcoming widebody MRO provider TIM Aerospace DWC MRO has selected IFS’ EmpowerMX software to digitally manage maintenance operations. The company plans to launch in the third quarter, and to roll out EmpowerMX in the first and second quarter.

Airlink Taps Embraer For Collaborative Inventory Planning

South African carrier Airlink has signed a spare parts inventory agreement with Embraer covering its fleet of ERJs and E-Jets. Airlink is Embraer’s first African customer for its Embraer Collaborative Inventory planning management system.

Tarmac Aerosave, Safran Extend Leap RBS Cooperation

Tarmac Aerosave and Safran Aircraft Engines have signed a contract extension covering installations of the reverse bleed system (RBS) on CFM International Leap 1A engines. Tarmac Aerosave’s team performed its first on-wing RBS installation in September, and more will take place in the coming weeks.

Satys Opens Dubai World Central Paint Hangar

Satys has opened a new aircraft painting hangar at Dubai World Central Airport with capability for business jets up Airbus A321 and Boeing 737 sized aircraft. It says the hangar will employ approximately 30 staff.

GA Telesis’ Component Repair Group has been granted approval by the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority to perform Part 145 repairs in the region.

Barnbrook Systems Opens DC Office

Barnbrook Systems, an UK-based engineering company with CAA and FAA accreditation, is opening an office in the Washington, DC, area. The company supports civil and business aviation OEMs with services such as predictive health monitoring systems, flight actuation and fire suppression products.

Middle East Airline Taps StandardAero For Leap Services

StandardAero has signed a 15-year agreement with what it says is a major Middle East airline to provide engine and engine component repair and overhaul services for CFM International Leap engines from its MRO facility in San Antonio, Texas.

FL Technics Adds Dubai World Central Line Station

FL Technics has added a new line maintenance station at Dubai World Central/Al Maktoum International Airport. Its current capabilities across its stations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi include maintenance for Boeing 737s and Airbus A320 family aircraft.

Italian MRO provider Atitech has opened a line station at London City Airport focusing on Airbus A220 aircraft maintenance.

Lufthansa Technik Expands Tulsa Component Operations

Lufthansa Technik Component Services has begun an expansion to its facility at Tulsa International Airport. The expansion, scheduled to be complete by the end of 2025, will add 25,000 ft.², 90 new workstations, an updated avionics workshop and renovated hangars. LTCS says the expansion will enhance its capacity, drive workforce expansion and enable it to introduce new capabilities, including the repair of integrated drive generators.

GCAA Approval for Jetaire

Jetaire Group received design organization approval by the United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) under Part 21 regulations. This approval means Jetaire, which specializes in aircraft fuel tank systems, can design and certify aircraft modifications for aircraft within the GCAA’s jurisdiction.

ANA Maintenance Costs

All Nippon Airways’ maintenance costs for the nine months ending Dec. 31, 2024 increased by 10.5 billion yen ($68.8 million) due to increased volume and a weaker yen. The airline says it is managing a “tight operating fleet” due to delays in new aircraft deliveries and increased engine maintenance.

Avia Solutions Group airlines Avion Express and SmartLynx Airlines have signed up for Swiss-AS AMOS software to digitally manage maintenance and engineering. The airlines selected the AMOS mobile suite, including AMOSmobile/EXEC and AMOSmobile/STORES.

Setna iO Plans Zulu Global Acquisition

Setna iO has reached an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Zulu Global, a Florida-based aftermarket company that provides services such as PMA and DER engineering, MRO, AOG support and distribution. Zulu Global founder Mike Garcia will remain as president and partner.

Willis To Service TUI Boeing 737s At Teesside

Willis Aviation Services has signed a long-term deal with German leisure carrier TUI Airways to conduct base maintenance services on its Boeing 737 aircraft at Teesside International in the UK.

HAECO, Panasonic Extend Component Repair Agreement

HAECO Component Overhaul and Panasonic Avionics have extended their repair service agreement for the Chinese Mainland by five years. Under the extension, HAECO will continue to provide MRO services for Panasonic’s components.

Allegiant Air Renews SR Technics CFM56 Contract

Allegiant Air has signed a five-year contract renewal with SR Technics for heavy shop visit support on its fleet of CFM International CFM56-5B engines. The airline has tapped SR Technics for engine maintenance since 2019.

LOT Opts For 3D Printed Cabin Replacement Parts

LOT Polish Airlines is installing 1,200 3D-printed arm caps designed and manufactured by AM Craft on its Boeing 737 fleet. The arm caps are a single 3D printed piece, eliminating interface issues between what was previously two parts that were prone to damage.

Kenya Airways Gets EASA Part 145 Certification

Kenya Airways has obtained European Union Aviation Safety Agency Part 145 certification, granting it the ability to perform services such as base, line and component maintenance, as well as non-destructive testing for European-registered aircraft. The airline says the certification journey began in late 2022, during which it identified and addressed 415 compliance actions, including facility upgrades, staff recruitment, procedural updates and equipment acquisitions.

Fly4 Airlines Completes First Major MRO Milestone

Irish ACMI Startup Fly4 Airlines has completed its first major MRO event for its fleet of Boeing 737NG aircraft. Fly4 says it collaborated with several key partners on the comprehensive maintenance checks, including Turkish Technic, TUI, Boeing and CFM International. Fly4 has completed the checks on two 737NGs, and the remaining two are scheduled to undergo similar maintenance programs in the coming weeks.
