2Excel Engineering has gained UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) certification to carry out aircraft component maintenance.
Under the new CAA accreditation, the company is approved to conduct checks up to C-level including inspection of airframes, engines and accessories, heavy lubrication, and corrosion prevention program.
In addition, it will also test major internal mechanisms and fulfillment of service bulletin requirements at its main facility at the former ATC Lasham site in Lasham, Hampshire, located around 50 mi. southwest of London.
Previously, it carried out checks up to A-level on narrowbodies including Boeing 727, 737 and 757 and Airbus A320 family aircraft. It also carried out repair services on Beechcraft King Air and Piper PA-31 aircraft.
The company says the project to gain certification from the regulator took around six months.
Matt Caswell, 2Excel Engineering’s CEO, says achieving the new certification meant implementing systems upgrades across the business. “The decision to pursue this accreditation meant an overhaul of systems from the base’s previous operation, acquired from ATC Lasham in 2016, mostly in terms of administration and software development, for example, but the key skills required were still here and still hugely relevant,” he says.
Caswell adds the new certification will open new opportunities for the business and extends the level of support offered to its customer base.
