From The Archives: Boeing Lunar Orbiter Mockup

The latest configuration of Boeing's Lunar Orbiter, seen from above, shows the directional antenna (top) and omnidirectional antenna (lower right) extended. Four solar panels are deployed, and the silvery, bulbous shape at the center houses the Eastman camera sub-system.
This engineering development full-scale mockup, which uses wood for some parts, is not a working model. Note 100 lb. Marquardt velocity control engine atop the heat shield.
