Mammoth Freighters has selected its first European MRO partner to perform its upcoming Boeing 777 passenger-to-freighter (PTF) conversions. It signed a general terms agreement Oct. 17 with STS Aviation Services, under which the MRO will perform PTF conversions for Mammoth’s 777-200LR and 777-300ER aircraft from its facility in Manchester, UK.

STS will begin inducting aircraft for conversions in mid-2024. Under the agreement it will also provide Mammoth with AOG services, product support and spares provisioning throughout Europe from its Manchester facility.

“This P2F program assures stability in Manchester from day one and means we can forge ahead, investing in entry-level engineers and trainee schemes, giving them development opportunities in the area of major programs and real-life aircraft engineering—when at the same time as taking capacity at Manchester to around 80% within two years of go live,” says Ian Bartholomew, managing director at STS.

The announcement comes just days after Mammoth announced that it had signed AviaAM Leasing as the launch customer for its 777-300ERMF conversion. The conversion work will be performed at newly-launched Part 145 repair station Aspire MRO, which is operating out of the former GDC Technics facility at Fort Worth Alliance Airport.

Mammoth has previously told Aviation Week it plans to partner with at least three MROs to perform its PTF conversions. In addition to its conversion facilities in the UK and U.S., the company has said it expects to eventually move into the Asia-Pacific region as well.

Last year, Mammoth Freighters tapped MTU Maintenance for engine MRO on its PTF conversions. The engine specialist will support the GE90-110 and -115B engines that will power Mammoth’s 777-200LR and 777-300ER converted freighters.
