Three MRO Industry Icons Receive Awards At MRO Americas

ATLANTA—Three industry veterans received prestigious awards at the opening day of MRO Americas 2025 for their contributions to the industry over the course of their careers.

Airlines for Americas presented its 59th Nuts and Bolts Awards to two veteran MRO professionals on April 8.

Greg Colgan, MRO Holdings CEO, received it for his “strategic leadership and passion to better deliver long-term value creation and excellent quality.”

Paul Schmitz, a Southwest Airlines aircraft maintenance technician, also received a Nuts and Bolts Award for his “exemplary achievement in commercial aviation maintenance,” including his expertise, skills and “considerable efforts to pass on his knowledge to the next generation.”

In addition, Aviation Week Network presented its annual Lifetime Achievement Award in MRO to Bill Collins, who retired from HAECO Americas in January as president. The leadership he provided throughout his aviation career—including at GE and American Airlines, as well—is recognized for his ability to grow businesses, provide steady leadership throughout change and foster workforces.
