The Sanad Group has offloaded its aircraft parts portfolio to focus on its fundamental objectives, while the buyer, AerSale, intends to supply the market with much needed used serviceable material for high demand components.

The portfolio sold includes parts for various aircraft types such as Boeing 737NGs and 777s, Airbus A320 family, A330s and A340s, and Embraer E-Jets.

Kashish Kohli, Sanad’s chief financial officer and senior vice president for its leasing division, tells Aviation Week Network that the sale is strategic, and it enables Sanad to optimize its asset base and reinvest in areas that are more closely aligned with its MRO business.

“It’s not a fundamental shift in direction but rather a refinement of our focus to strengthen our position in aerospace engineering and asset management,” he says.

The move is expected to help Sanad leverage current market dynamics and drive sustained growth to reinforce the ongoing drive to boost Abu Dhabi’s aviation sector.

The deal also includes various quick engine change kits and an overhauled A330 landing gear shipset with what AerSale says is top tier traceability.

Kohli believes the market conditions were optimal for the transaction, aided by robust demand for used serviceable material while also pushing a more proactive approach to asset management.

AerSale and Sanad also are exploring opportunities for synergies in MRO operations. Kohli suggests focus areas for future collaboration could involve piece parts repairs, engine component purchase and sales, and operator support.

Kohli did not allude to any specific plans for future equity investment related to its collaboration with AerSale. “Our current focus is on completing this transaction and ensuring a smooth transition of the assets to AerSale,” he says.
