Aftermarket inventory specialist AvAir has partnered with Abu Dhabi-based MRO Sanad to provide asset management solutions for Airbus, Boeing and Embraer components.
Under the terms of the partnership, announced Monday (Jan. 23), U.S.-based AvAir will make parts provided by Sanad available to customers across its global network.
The move will create one of the world’s largest component pools, according to AvAir, and will specifically cater for demand related to overhauled and serviceable components.
Headquartered in Chandler, Arizona, AvAir provides options to buy, sell, exchange, loan, lease or consign inventories. It says its stock levels exceed more than 26 million components. Over the course of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the company bolstered its parts inventory by purchasing parts overstock from both airlines and MROs looking to offload surplus inventory at the height of the crisis.
Steven Solomon, AvAir vice president of sales, says the new program with Sanad will greatly increase the available inventory on offer from the company and was set up to target efficiency improvements across the supply chain.
“The aviation industry needs a viable solution to address the long lead times on component repairs caused by the recent disruption in global supply chains,” says Solomon. “The material made available through our pool will keep our customers flying while their components undergo the lengthy repair process.”
“Through our agreement with AvAir, we aim to optimize our inventory and continue to support the growing need for components for the operators globally,” adds Kashish Kohli, chief financial officer of Sanad Group. “This arrangement provides us additional liquidity to support our customers across various industrial sectors.”
Sanad, a wholly owned subsidiary of the state-backed Mubadala Investment Company, has looked to diversify service offerings outside of the aerospace industry over the past year. Nevertheless, in the last 12 months, it has announced partnerships with the likes of Triumph on engine parts repairs and with French OEM Thales to explore industrial services for airport security, air traffic and avionics systems.
