Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair has extended its base maintenance agreement with Jordanian services provider Joramco into 2021-22.
Ryanair operates an all Boeing 737-800 fleet numbering more than 300 aircraft and since 2019 has sent some of these aircraft to Joramco’s facility in Amman for heavy maintenance checks. The original agreement marked the first time that the Irish airline opted to send maintenance to an MRO provider outside of Europe.
The first wave of MRO activity took place from November 2019 to June 2020. The deal between the parties was also extended into winter 2020 following the initial completion of heavy checks on 11 of the airline’s 737 aircraft during November 2019 and June 2020.
Under the renewed ties, Joramco will continue to carry out heavy checks on more 737 aircraft from the airline’s fleet. The first aircraft under the extended contract arrived in Jordan earlier this month where they underwent nose-to-tail, 11- and 14- years checks, Joramco confirmed.
Joramco’s presence at Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport includes five hangars that can accommodate up to 15 aircraft simultaneously.
“We are pleased to continue the partnership between Joramco and Ryanair, which confirms that we are more than capable of providing first-class maintenance services to the satisfaction of our customers and airline partners around the world,” Joramco’s CEO Fraser Currie said of the agreement.
Andrew Holder, deputy director heavy maintenance at Dublin, Ireland-headquartered Ryanair added: “…We have a busy season ahead with nose-to-tail heavy checks and knowing Joramco will deliver the high standards of maintenance demanded by us is true testament to the relationship we have built.”
