U.S. maintenance provider FEAM has grown its presence in Europe by establishing two new line stations that commence operations today (Jan. 12).
The line stations are both in the north of England and are located at Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Doncaster/Sheffield Airport in Yorkshire.
In Liverpool, FEAM will initially support Airbus A320 family aircraft under EASA Part 145 approval with capabilities including line maintenance and on-wing AOG support. At its Doncaster location, it will focus on the airport’s growing cargo operations by servicing widebody aircraft such as the Boeing 777, 747-8 and 747-400.
The new locations in the UK take the number of FEAM line stations in Europe to six, with other UK-based stations at airports in Manchester International Airport, East Midlands Airport and Teesside International Airport, and one location in Germany at Leipzig-Halle Airport.
FEAM hasn’t disclosed the total investment figures in the new line stations, but the company’s recently appointed chief strategy officer Dan Allawat says it has put “significant investment” in new tooling and ground equipment to outfit these locations.
Aviation Week has contacted FEAM about the potential job creation at both line stations.
Headquartered in Miami, FEAM is predominantly a line maintenance specialist with a presence in more than 30 U.S. locations. It also offers base maintenance and has two hangar facilities in the U.S.
It began expanding through its acquisition of UK-based BOSA in September last year. When acquiring the company, located in Manchester, it took on its three UK locations along with its Germany-based operation.
The capabilities acquired from Manchester-based BOSA include line maintenance across all Boeing and Airbus aircraft along with component repair and AOG services. BOSA’s customers included European airlines such as EasyJet, Wizz Air, Jet2, Iberia, Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic.
