ATR Hints at Mid-Show Farnborough Announcement

Turboprop manufacturer ATR is planning some announcements during the Farnborough Airshow, where two ATR 72-600s will be on display.

In June 2022, one of BRA’s ATR 72-600s became the first commercial aircraft to fly with 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in both engines.

Turboprop manufacturer ATR is planning some announcements during the Farnborough Airshow, where two ATR 72-600s will be on display.

“We are aiming for a few announcements at the show, related to aircraft orders and customer services,” an ATR spokesperson said. “We are aiming to share our biggest news towards the middle of the week.”

An ATR 72-600 test aircraft, which ATR uses on a daily basis to measure and test various systems, will participate in the flying display.

A second ATR 72-600, belonging to Stockholm-based Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA), will form part of the static lineup at this year’s show. In June 2022, one of BRA’s ATR 72-600s became the first commercial aircraft to fly with 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in both engines, as part of ATR’s test flight program.

“The BRA ATR 72-600 aircraft on display is one of 14 in the Swedish customer’s fleet, delivered after the historic 100% SAF flight,” the ATR spokesperson said. “The work going on with both BRA and fuel producer Neste are clear testaments to our commitment to leading the decarbonization efforts in the regional aviation segment.”

ATR will also offer a virtual reality display of its premium cabin configurations, known as ATR HighLine.

Finally, ATR is likely to be asked about its new ATR EVO concept aircraft family and other technologies during the show. “We continue working on these and will share updates when the time is right,” the spokesperson said.
