Stelia Aerospace has introduced a new version of its Rendez-Vous business-class seat, aimed at both business and leisure passengers and focusing on comfort on long flights.

Featuring partition walls and two seats that can join to form a double bed, the new seat further blurs the boundaries between first class and business class, giving carriers options galore for the front section of their aircraft.

Since the introduction of the first version in 2023, Stelia listened to feedback from frequent fliers’ associations, carriers and ergonomics specialists, head of sales and marketing Alain Bordeau said at Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX). The result is a seat closer to a sofa than an armchair. The passenger can thus move and vary positions during the flight, Bordeau emphasized. The back of the seat is integrated into the shell, optimizing the use of space. Moreover, thanks to the rethought locations of the tray table and exit space, the passenger can leave the seat without folding up the table.

With its staggered configuration, the seat opens the possibility to create a duo suite. The two seats, reclined to the full-flat position, lie close together and a single ottoman prolong them. Thanks to the seat's integration into the shell and the resulting nest effect, passengers benefit from extra soundproofing around their head when sleeping, Bordeau said.

The individual seat is 24 in. wide and, with a typical 44 in. pitch, 78 in. long in the bed configuration. Stelia, an Airbus subsidiary, is offering the Rendez-Vous for the A350—typically with a four-abreast layout—and also for the Boeing 787 and 777. The company is looking for a launch customer and sees its new product as particularly suitable for honeymoon travel offerings at Asian carriers.
