Delta Air Lines and El Al Israel Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement, giving more connecting options to passengers flying between the U.S. and Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV).
The codeshare accord takes effect on Jan. 1, 2024, when Delta’s code will be placed on El Al flights between TLV and six U.S. airports: Boston (BOS); Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Los Angeles (LAX); Miami; Newark, New Jersey; and New York John F. Kennedy (JFK).
El Al’s code will be placed on Delta’s currently suspended routes to TLV from Atlanta (ATL), BOS and JFK. Delta points out in a statement that the codeshare will enable El Al passengers to access up to 280 same-day connections to North American cities operated by Delta, including, among others, Las Vegas, Toronto and Seattle.
The airlines will offer reciprocal frequent-flyer benefits.
“Delta remains steadfast in our long-time commitment to serving consumers and businesses who depend on convenient, high-quality air service to and from Tel Aviv," Delta President for International Alain Bellemare says.
“The start of this codeshare agreement between Delta Air Lines and EL Al offers customers access to convenient, one-stop services from Israel to cities throughout the Americas and welcomes new North American customers to EL Al's world-class service to and from Tel Aviv,” Bellemare adds.
Delta recently confirmed that it has extended the suspension of its route between JFK and TLV through at least March 29, 2024, because of the Israel-Gaza war in the region. The airline’s ATL and BOS routes to TLV are also grounded.
