Breeze Airways Focuses On Building East Coast Routes With New Summer Flights

U.S. carrier Breeze Airways is launching four routes to popular vacation destination Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, part of a series of new services set to be added or resumed for the summer season.

From May 2, the carrier will open 3X-weekly flights between Myrtle Beach International Airport (MRY) and Bradley International Airport serving Hartford, Connecticut. Frequencies will rise to 5X-weekly starting from June 21.

From June 20, Breeze will start 4X-weekly service between MYR and Westchester County Airport (HPN) in White Plains, New York. On the same date, it will open 2X-weekly summer seasonal service from MRY to both Akron-Canton, Ohio, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Flights to MRY are one of a number of resumed and new services to be operated by Breeze from HPN for the summer. Located just over 30 mi. north of New York John F. Kennedy Airport, HPN is viewed by the airline as an alternative airport for New York City.

From May 3, Breeze will commence 2X-weekly flights between HPN and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina, with frequencies rising to 3X-weekly from June 26 through October.

From June 20-June 22, the airline will open three seasonal summer routes from HPN: Jacksonville, Florida; Norfolk, Virginia; and Portland, Maine. The three routes will each be flown 2X-weekly.

From June 21, the airline will also commence 2X-weekly service between RDU and West Palm Beach, Florida.

Breeze President Tom Doxey says the airline is developing traffic at existing airports in its network. “This year we are focused on building on the solid foundation we have established in many of our key origin cities, especially on the East Coast,” he says in a statement. “Our terrific airport partners support us in this growth.”

Breeze founder and CEO David Neeleman recently said he believes the airline, launched in 2021, can eventually operate as many as 2,000 routes, around 10 times what it currently flies.
