Just over three months since launching flights between Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Etihad Airways unveiled plans to nearly double capacity on the route.
The United Arab Emirates-based airline opened the exclusive route on March 31, operating the service 4X-weekly with a Boeing 787-9 configured with 290 seats, including 28 in business class. From Oct. 27, it will boost flights on the route to daily, adding 870 weekly seats on the service for a total of 2,030 seats per week.
“Our Boston service continues to perform strongly, with our flights near capacity since our inaugural flight in Boston this March,” says Arik De, Etihad chief revenue and commercial officer.
Etihad codeshares with JetBlue Airways, enabling passengers to connect to flights beyond BOS.
The expanded AUH-BOS capacity gives BOS 14 daily flights to the UAE. Emirates operates a daily BOS-Dubai service.
Etihad flies to four other North American destinations: Chicago O’Hare, New York John F. Kennedy, Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and Washington Dulles.
The airline also announced it will switch from a 787 to an Airbus A350 for its daily AUH-YYZ service from Oct. 27.
