The head of KM Malta Airlines has outlined its operational performance experiences and warned about the challenges of rising costs for smaller carriers in Europe.

Fledgling carrier KM Malta Airlines is planning to increase its capital to €360 million, paving the way for part-privatization in just over two years.

KM Malta’s strategy will be to target high-value business and tourism flows with higher frequencies on core routes.

Malta’s new flag-carrier, KM Malta Airlines, has launched operations, having taken over services from its predecessor Air Malta.

Malta’s new flag-carrier will serve 26 fewer destinations than its predecessor, but the impact on connectivity to the island country looks set to be “minimal.”
