Airlines have canceled flights into Dhaka, Bangladesh, after the capital's airport was forced to close after civil unrest that toppled the country's government.
The airline will launch flights on eight routes across six countries from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport from May 16, 2014 despite its own Sharjah International Airport hub being just 80km away.
Epic Air aims to bring low-cost travel to the country and will launch services with an initial fleet of two Boeing 737-800s, according to sources close to the carrier. The launch of the new business, which is reportedly headed by former Regent Airways’ chief executive, Imran Asif, comes at a time of significant change in the Bangladesh aviation market.
