The Mongolia Civil Aviation Authority (MCAA) has awarded type certification to the Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2, which supports the latter aircraft’s introduction in the country by Hunnu Air.
The Mongolian E2 certification is the latest in Asia for the Brazilian OEM, following similar nods by Singapore’s regulator in 2023 and China’s regulator in 2022.
Currently the only E2 operator in Asia is LCC Scoot, which has begun flying the E190-E2 on international routes within Southeast Asia. All Nippon Airways in February announced an order for 15 E190-E2s and options for five more.
Hunnu plans to induct two E195-E2s from lessor Azzora, with deliveries expected to take place in April and October. The Aviation Week Network Fleet Discovery database shows Hunnu now operates a pair of E190s, both more than 12 years old.
The E195-E2 will expand Hunnu’s current network and ply new international points in south China, such as Hainan, and Phu Quoc in Vietnam.
