CHICAGO—STS Component Solutions, the parts repair division of U.S.-based maintenance provider STS Aviation Group, has announced a three-year partnership with L3Harris Technologies to distribute its products in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
As part of the terms of the agreement, STS will become the sole distributor for L3Harris products in those regions. L3Harris manufactures and develops advanced communication and surveillance systems found on aircraft.
STS, headquartered in Jensen Beach, says the OEM distribution agreement will begin with immediate effect and will specifically focus on flight data recorders, cockpit voice recorders and RDI data interfaces. It will make the products available to all customers in the commercial aftermarket across the three regions.
“Our collaboration with L3Harris represents a significant milestone in our mission to provide comprehensive, integrated solutions to the aviation industry,” says Kerry Obiala, vice president of OEM distribution at STS Component Solutions.
In October last year, L3Harris announced plans to grow its aftermarket presence by entering the used equipment business. The company also hopes to set up component repair capabilities for its products in Europe and Asia, potentially this year.
Shortly after in November, the business announced plans to sell off its Commercial Aviation Services unit to private equity investors for as much as $800 million. The deal is expected to be closed in the first half of 2024.
