SR Technics has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bamboo Airways to jointly work together in developing solutions related to CFM56-5B engines and training services. SR Technics will also provide the airline with technical services and component services under its STRADE subsidiary. SR Technics says the cooperation will lead to around $60 million worth of signed deals.

ST Engineering has secured new multi-year, component Maintenance-By-the-Hour (MBH) contracts to support the Airbus A321neo and A330 aircraft operated by China Airlines and Tigerair Taiwan.

It also secured an extension of its component MBH contracts from Jeju Air to support its Boeing 737NG and 737 MAX aircraft. The contract extensions will take effect on Jan. 1, 2025 and last until 2030.

Meanwhile, it has established quick-turn services for the CFM LEAP-1B engine at its facility in Singapore. It plans to expand its capability in LEAP-1B engines to full MRO services by the end of 2023.

Safran announced plans to open a new nacelles repair facility in Suzhou, China by the second quarter of 2022. The 56,000 ft.² facility will have capabilities for services including repair of nacelles and line-replaceable units and operate under both Civil Aviation Administration of China and European Union Aviation Safety Agency certifications. The facility will initially focus on CFM LEAP-1A engine nacelles for Airbus A320neo aircraft and eventually expand to Chinese-manufactured Comac C919s powered by LEAP-1C engines.

Boeing launched its Integrated Operation Center, a digital suite of solutions for medium- to large-sized airlines. The customizable suite has been designed to provide awareness across operations, with capabilities including flight scheduling, operations control, crew management, communications, flight planning and tail assignment.

Ted Colbert, head of Boeing Global Services, says the Ops Suite “takes the best of what we have today, improves the data model behind the solutions, improves the user experience and provides capabilities to make faster and faster decisions.”

Aircraft lessor CDB Aviation has committed to 12 more Airbus A330 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversions from EFW, expanding its A330 P2F fleet to 14 aircraft. CDB says it is on track to launch the A330-200P2F in China this year with lease commitments from Sichuan Airlines and Jiangxi Cargo Airlines. Sichuan Airlines has leased two of the A330-200P2Fs and Jiangxi Cargo Airlines has leased one.

Satair has signed a long-term distribution agreement with Collins Aerospace for the OEM’s engine mounts, including detail parts and sub-assemblies for CFM LEAP series engines on Airbus A320neo family aircraft. Under the agreement, Satair will provide distribution of the parts to its worldwide network of airline customers, repair organizations and aftermarket spare parts providers.

SIA Engineering Company’s Philippines subsidiary (SIAEP) has signed an agreement with aircraft part-out specialist North American Aerospace Industries (NAAI) to collaborate on aircraft recycling solutions. Under the agreement, the companies will provide services including aircraft parking and storage, component harvesting and dismantling activities on aircraft that will be dismantled and recycled by NAAI. Services will take place at SIAEP’s Clark, Philippines facility.

Singapore Airlines and low-cost carrier Scoot have entered into a long-term MRO agreement with Collins Aerospace, which will support the airlines’ fleet of 55 Boeing 787 aircraft. Through its FlightSense program, Collins will provide full lifecycle support for high-performance pool access, maintenance services and reliability upgrades on products such as its air management systems, electric power generator and start systems, emergency power systems, fire suppression, and sensors and lighting systems.

Asia Digital Engineering (ADE) announced plans to build integrated MRO facilities at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The 380,000 ft.² facilities will provide MRO services for up to 14 commercial aircraft simultaneously, including dedicated component workshops and a digital product development center. Development of the facilities will start in mid-2022 and ADE expects to finish construction within two years.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has signed an extension for Boeing’s Maintenance Performance Toolbox platform, which is used to simplify maintenance operations through intelligent, digital maintenance documentation. ANA, which has been using the digital solution for eight years to manage maintenance information for its fleet of aircraft and engines, was the first customer to go live with the platform’s full-fleet capability.

China Airlines has extended its Total Component Support contract with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) for a minimum of another six years. The agreement covers component support for the airline’s Airbus A330 fleet, comprised of 23 aircraft.

In addition to A330 component support, LHT provides component services for China Airlines’ A350 fleet, including simulator components and APUs.

Collins Aerospace has announced that it will invest $27 million to relocate its China and Malaysia MRO facilities.

In Malaysia, it plans to quadruple its footprint by relocating to a new 160,000 ft.² facility at Subang Aerotech Park. The location will also add new capabilities for air cycle machines, heat exchangers, engine starters, valves and actuator systems for Airbus A320s and A380s, Boeing 787s and 777Xs, and ATR 42/72s.

Collins plans to nearly double the size of its facility in Xiamen, China to 80,000 ft.². The new site will provide MRO services for fuel control systems, engine vane actuators, helicopter rescue hoists, evacuation slides and avionics.

SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) has entered an agreement with SR Technics to acquire a 75% stake in SR Technics Malaysia to form a component MRO joint venture (JV). SIAEC says the new JV will help it grow its component repair and overhaul services network under its recently announced Component Services Division.

SR Technics will retain the remaining 25% stake in SR Technics Malaysia. It says the JV will help it increase the business volume on existing repair capabilities and jointly develop new repair capabilities for new engine types and aircraft platforms.

China Airlines and its subsidiary Tigerair Taiwan have signed long-term MRO contracts with Collins Aerospace for its FlightSense program. Collins will provide engine accessory repair services for China Airlines’ fleet of 25 Airbus A321neo aircraft, as well as engine accessory repair and spares support for Tigerair Taiwan’s fleet of 15 A320neos. Collins says the contract is its biggest, most comprehensive MRO agreement with the airlines to date.

Vietjet has signed an agreement with Lufthansa Technik (LHT) to adopt its Aviatar Technical Logbook application for digital pilot-to-maintenance collaboration. It will use the application to replace manual and paper-based processes for capturing technical issues during flight and on ground for its entire fleet. According to LHT, Aviatar Technical Logbook will increase the airline’s efficiency and provide a new pool of real-time operational data. Vietjet is LHT’s first Aviatar Technical Logbook customer in the Asia-Pacific region.

Pratt & Whitney has announced plans to expand its GTF engine MRO network in the Asia-Pacific region from three to eight locations. It expects five more engine maintenance centers to open soon, including its recently announced shop at Korean Air, which was announced in Dec. 2021.

The engine OEM says its GTF engines have saved Asia-Pacific operators more than 300 million gallons of fuel since entering service in 2016 through better fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

Tigerair Taiwan has signed a long-term contract with Liebherr-Aerospace for component support on its 15 Airbus A320neos. Liebherr will provide repair support services for a wide range of air conditioning and bleed systems components from Liebherr-Singapore, its dedicated service center for the Asia-Pacific region.

Topcast Group has signed new long-term agreements with Cathay Pacific and HAECO ITM. It will be providing aircraft jack repair services for Cathay Pacific and ACME battery repair services for HAECO ITM.

It also signed an OEM expansion distribution agreement with sealing solutions and structural components manufacturer Greene, Tweed & Co, which covers its new exclusive product range and extends the customer base for OEM production. According to Topcast, the agreement now covers the entire scope of aviation parts produced by the OEM and also includes strategic product development capabilities to its OEM production portfolio.
