StandardAero has bolstered its airfoil capabilities after finalizing an agreement to acquire Florida-based EB Airfoils, a provider of MRO services for fan blades, compressor blade and vanes on aircraft engines.
EB Airfoils, which was founded in 1976, has two facilities located in Palm City, Florida. The company occupies 20,000 sq. ft across its FAA and EASA certified shops and employs about 50 staff.
It holds OEM approvals for blades and vanes repair from Pratt & Whitney, General Electric, CFM International and International Aero Engines. Specific engines include the PW4000 and CFM56-3, -5A and -7B. The company says it is in the process of receiving additional approvals through source demonstrations.
“EB Airfoils expands StandardAero’s existing airfoil capabilities at our Cork, Kansas City and Singapore facilities to provide a more comprehensive offering of hot and cold section airfoils with immediate growth for our component repair capabilities for blades, vanes and other cold section component services to our portfolio,” said Russell Ford, chairman and CEO of StandardAero.
“This acquisition marks another strategic initiative to continue to expand our worldwide portfolio of MRO and component repair services,” he adds.
The deal is StandardAero’s second acquisition of 2022. In January, it announced the buyout of PTS Aviation, a boutique asset management company based in Miramar, Florida specializing in CFM56 engine services.
