SINGAPORE—HAECO has announced a long-term partnership with Safran Aircraft Engines for the installation of the reverse bleed system (RBS) on Leap engines.
The link-up means the Hong Kong-headquartered maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) company will become the first MRO supplier to offer the service on the Leap.
The RBS was developed to prevent coking—or temperature-induced evaporation of unburned fuel around nozzles that inject fuel into the combustor. This could result in the formation of carbon, where the deposits can affect fuel flow and cause uneven internal combustor temperatures, which leads to reduced on-wing life.
The Leap 1A RBS was certified by the U.S. FAA and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency in 2023.
CFM said at this year's Farnborough Airshow that the RBS retrofit kit would be available by “mid-summer.”
HAECO will perform the RBS installation at its global engine support locations at in Hong Kong, London, Amsterdam and Dallas.
