Commercial engine MRO demand in the Asia-Pacific region is projected to surpass $101.8 billion with more than 22,950 MRO events, including over 16,320 engine overhaul events through 2033, according to Aviation Week Network’s Commercial Aviation Fleet & MRO Forecast.

The commercial aircraft engine fleet is expected to grow to at least 15,450 engines in 2033 from just over 10,080 in 2024, according to the forecast, which envisions how the world’s aircraft fleet and aftermarket will evolve over the next 10 years. This engine fleet expansion is anticipated to translate directly to higher MRO demand during the forecast period.

Required engine MRO for commercial aircraft engines is expected to develop at a compound annual growth rate of 1.7%.

Commercial engine MRO will be dominated in the Asia-Pacific market by CFM International, which will capture 31% of the market, according to the forecast, while Pratt & Whitney is expected to garner the next-highest share, with 17%.

Aircraft types in the region that are expected to require the largest amount of engine MRO work are the Airbus A320 and A330, followed closely by the Boeing 737-800, the forecast states.
