An Embraer E-190 that Ascent Aviation Services is tearing down.
Avian Inventory Management purchased an Embraer E-190 from lessor Azorra to meet increasing demand for certified E-Jet parts.
Neither company disclosed the aircraft’s price.
Azorra President Ron Baur said this was a one-off aircraft sale and the lessor kept the engines. Azorra’s owned aircraft fleet is 104, as of June 30. This compares to 91 at the end of 2023.
Avian contracted Ascent Aviation Services in Arizona to dismantle the aircraft, which previously was operated by JetBlue.
Avian expects the tear down will be finished mid-October, with the parts ready to go to market in November.
The Aviation Week Network Fleet Discovery database data shows there are about 1,700 E-Jets in service, with 528 of them averaging 7-9 years old, followed by 362 being 16-18 years old.
