From The Archives: First F-18 In Operational Navy Colors

The cover image shows the number 11 full-scale development version of the Navy/McDonnell Douglas F-18 Hornet pulled into a steep climb during a recent test flight from the company's production facility in St. Louis. The aircraft, the first to be painted in the Navy's subdued operational colors, is the final research and development version to join the full-scale development test program.
