SINGAPORE—Remote medical and security assistance company MedAire has introduced a training package aimed at unifying the language and understanding of security across aviation industry sectors.

MedAire unveiled the course, Basic Aviation Security Awareness Training, at the inaugural Business Aviation Asia Forum and Expo (BAAFEx) in Singapore.

Training covers critical security definitions and how to identify threats, vulnerabilities and risks, as well as effective incident reporting and response procedures, bolstering participants' confidence in addressing security-related situations.

“By exploring historical and current threats to aviation, the training provides context for the necessary countermeasures,” MedAire says. “Roles and responsibilities within aviation security are clearly defined, enabling participants to understand their contribution to a secure aviation environment.”

MedAire's Chris Potter tells Aviation Week that given the diverse group of new recruits entering the industry with varying levels of understanding, it is crucial to establish common, base-level understanding and nomenclatures. Potter anticipates the product can drive an industry-wide standard—from business jet service providers to airline operators.

The company is in discussions to introduce the course to a few airlines in Europe and the Middle East, Potter adds.
