Security equipment companies offer products that address multiple threats to aircraft as well as hangars and other vulnerable general and corporate aviation support facilities.
A Portfolio Of Protection
Bosch Security and Safety Systems of Fairport, N.Y., supplies security, safety and communications products and services, including video surveillance, access control and systems management functions.
Bosch’s aviation business includes building and perimeter security systems that use video sensors to automatically detect and alert companies to breaches of protected areas, line crossing, objects left behind, loitering and other activities. The Bosch intrusion-detection system can alert a monitoring center or send a text alert to personnel along with a video snapshot of the event. Video security cameras are offered with built-in video analytics as standard.
To improve safety and security, Bosch plans to introduce Intelligent Video Analytics Pro (IVA Pro), a suite of video security analytical systems that will provide application-specific packages for building security and operations, including the IVA Pro Buildings Pack and IVA Pro Perimeter Pack.

Remotely Controlled Hangar System
Lynk Remote Technologies, based in San Diego, specializes in security and automation tools for corporate flight departments and aircraft hangar leasing companies.
Lynk’s Smart Hangar System enables remote opening and closing of hangar doors, as well as turn-on and turn-off of industrial fans and heating and air conditioning systems, via smartphone. The company is the sole developer and source of the product, which is sold under the “Lynk Remote” brand.
Among the system’s capabilities are motion detection, notification of temperature spikes for fire detection, humidity detection and functions. The remaining battery life of equipment such as tugs can be determined via smartphone. Lynk Remote includes security cameras that provide object recognition, such as persons entering a hangar, as well as video history.
Lynk says it is working with equipment manufacturers to enable remote diagnostics of their equipment, with introduction of that capability planned in the first quarter of 2023.

Keeping Aircraft Safe From Intrusion
Otonomy Aviation, of Merignac, France, provides an anti-intrusion system for the general aviation and cargo aircraft markets. Using 3G/GSM mobile networks, users can access its Safelite Video system worldwide, arm and disarm the system from any mobile phone and be immediately warned of an event, including where and when a breach has occurred.
The Safelite Video system also records a video of the intrusion, which is sent to a remote server. Users can watch videos using their smartphone and the Parabellum app for iOS and Android. The system can also be controlled via a web application. Otonomy Aviation is developing a version of the system with 4K resolution and improved night vision capability.
