Duncan Aviation announced plans to begin construction on a new $25 million paint facility at its Lincoln, Nebraska MRO location.
Work is expected to begin in December with completion projected for January 2026.
The facility will consist of a 32,500 ft.², dual-bay paint hangar with an adjacent 9,000 ft.² storage and support area, all of which will be directly connected to Duncan’s existing paint facility. The company built the existing 45,000 ft.² paint facility in 2012 and will continue to operate it alongside the new facility.
According to Duncan Aviation, the new addition will allow the company to decommission Paint Bays 1 and 2, which were originally built in 1990. The space will eventually be used to “support the overall needs of the organization.”
The new facility will feature upgraded climate control and wastewater treatment, alongside air showers and a small application booth for send-in parts. Additionally, the facility will be capable of recirculating up to 80% of heat used in curing processes.
“The driving factor for the hangar build is flexibility, not capacity,” says Doug Bohac, Duncan Aviation enterprise paint manager. “We won’t be painting more aircraft in Lincoln. However, we will be able to offer clients better flexibility, especially those who want detailed, more intricate paint schemes that require more than one paint slot to complete.”
The new facility will accommodate larger aircraft, such as the Gulfstream G650, Dassault Falcon 10X and the Bombardier Global 7500, Bohac says.
Duncan Aviation’s Lincoln location provides paint services to about 105 aircraft per year. Between the company’s locations in Lincoln, Nebraska; Battle Creek, Michigan and Provo, Utah, the MROs paint 250 aircraft annually.
Tectonic Management Group, a longtime partner of Duncan Aviation, designed and engineered the new hangar. Construction will be handled by Hausmann Construction, with foundations to be laid in December. The project is expected to be completed in January 2026.
