A Dynamic Airways Boeing 767-200 caught fire on a Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (Florida) International Airport (FLL) taxiway as it was holding for takeoff to Caracas, Venezuela.

CFM delivers first 737 MAX LEAP-1B engines to Boeing
CFM International has delivered the first LEAP-1B engines to Boeing to power the 737 MAX. The first 737 MAX with mounted LEAP-1B engines is expected to be rolled out by Boeing in December, and the re-engined aircraft’s first flight is slated for early 2016.

O'Hare opens pet relief area
Indoor service animal/pet relief room at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Located past security checkpoints in the Rotunda area of Terminal 3, the room is specially designed to accommodate passengers traveling with service animals or pets. The room has two, 2-foot by 4-foot pet relief areas complete with artificial grass covering, miniature fire hydrants and pop-up sprinkler systems to wash away liquid waste into a drain. In addition, a mounted hose bib and reel is available for manual spraying and plastic bags are provided for clean-up. The room is enclosed, has a door with a glass pane that opens and closes automatically, and is designed for wheelchair access. The room also includes two sinks for passenger use.

Official report: Surface-to-air missle downed MH17
The downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine in July 2014 was definitively caused by a BUK surface-to-air missile, according to the final report of the Dutch Safety Board (DSB) issued Oct 13.
The report into the tragedy, in which all 298 passengers and crew were killed on board the Boeing 777-200 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, did not attribute blame or responsibility for the incident. That will be disclosed in a criminal investigation report due next year.

Air China takes delivery of 50th A330
Air China has taken delivery of its 50th Airbus A330 in Toulouse, France. The aircraft, an A330-300 is the first 242 ton maximum take-off-weight (MTOW) version to be operated by a Chinese airline.

British Airways takes delivery of first 787-9
British Airways (BA) took delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 on Sept. 30 and, on the same day, operated its final 737 flight. The initial 787-9, registered G-ZBKA, touched down at London Heathrow at 0850 local time following its delivery flight from Seattle.
