Building on the success of the company’s existing flight schedule of over 90 direct weekly flights from the UK to nine Scandinavian and Nordic destinations, Norwegian is extending its offering to the UK business and leisure market by adding a three times weekly rotation between Manchester and Oslo Gardemoen from October 31.
The launch of this route is, according to the airline, based around the incredible interest in Norway for the big Premiership football teams in the North West; but it also represents an opportunity for business and leisure travelers alike to visit Oslo and other key points in the Norwegian domestic and Scandinavian network, all at excellent fares.
“The instant success with the London route has triggered our desire to offer increased flexibility to our passengers. In order to be a competitive player and an attractive alternative for business travellers, it’s important to increase the number of daily flights while keeping low fares,” said Daniel Skjeldam, Chief Commercial Director, Norwegian.
Norwegian, Scandinavia’s second largest airline and Europe’s fourth largest low-cost carrier today offers over 90 direct weekly flights from London Gatwick and Edinburgh to Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, Alesund and Trondheim in Norway; Copenhagen and Aalborg in Denmark and Stockholm in Sweden, and offers onward connections to its large domestic and intra Scandinavian network.
“European connections to major capitals like Oslo are an important part of the network offering from Manchester,” said Andrew Harrison, Managing Director of Manchester Airport. “We’re pleased that the popularity of Manchester as a tourist destination is available to an increasing number of visitors who are coming to see teams like Manchester City and United.”
