Already the inaugural World Route Development Strategy Summit co-located with the 17th World Route Development Forum is gaining momentum ahead of this year’s event in Berlin. It is a truly global summit with over 50 countries already represented, and will provide a unique platform for the global route development and aviation stakeholders to learn, debate and shape the future of aviation transport.
The morning of day one will be dedicated to aviation leader strategies, focusing on international issues that impact the whole industry including air politics, the airline alliances’ influence on route development, and the influence of the narrowing market between Low Cost Carriers and Legacy airlines.
The afternoon of day one will be split into 3 streams focusing on Route Development, Air Cargo and Travel & Tourism. During the Route Development stream, vital elements that will be covered include the expansion of routes into new markets, getting to grips with airport competition tactics and how to finance and fund routes. Parallel to this, the Travel & Tourism stream will cover the most important issues facing the industry: retaining and improving relationships between the tourism authority, airline and airport; government support in the tourism market; and how to better market your organisation through social media. The leading publication Air Cargo World will also take the lead in the Air Cargo Routes Stream, uncovering solutions to air cargo challenges including measuring the value of cargo and maximising cargo as an important revenue stream for future growth.
For World Routes delegates who will not be participating in the one-to-one meetings on October 3, day two of the conference will again focus on critical issues that will challenge the future of our industry including security and safety, impact of delayed aircraft deliveries and how airports are now viewed as economical catalysts.
CEOs from across passenger and cargo airlines, airports, tourism authorities, government bodies, and the largest aviation associations are speaking at this event not only to share their knowledge, but will be questioned by the audience, participate in debates across the whole summit floor and listen to suggestions on how we can strengthen the aviation industry.
Edmond Rose, Commercial Director of Virgin Atlantic who will be speaking at the event said about the industry “Higher fuel costs have been the dominant factor over the last five years and this looks set to continue as the major trend. Consolidation of unprofitable airlines is also likely to be important in helping the industry mature and achieve profitability.”
Fuel volatility and airline mergers & acquisitions are among the many critical and controversial topics that will be heavily debated by the leaders of the air transport at this two day summit.
As the aviation industry may be facing another aftershock from the economy, turbulent times could be closing in again sooner than anticipated. How will this impact the world of aviation route development and beyond? Book your place now and find out…
