SINGAPORE—Singapore Airlines (SIA) will introduce its first nonstop service linking Singapore and London Gatwick (LGW) from June 2024.
Subject to regulatory approvals, the route connecting Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) with London's secondary airport will be served 5X-weekly starting from June 21, 2024.
The LGW route will bump up SIA's total service to London from 28X-weekly to 33X-weekly. SIA already serves London Heathrow four times a day from SIN, and Manchester, England, five times a week.
The new London-bound service will be designated SQ310, with the return journey to SIN designated SQ309. SIA will utilize an Airbus A350-900 configured with 42 business-class seats, 24 premium-economy seats and space for 187 passengers in economy class.
The return flight will land at 6:20 a.m. Singapore time to line up with connections to Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
“For passengers across London and the Southeast, the new route will provide huge connectivity potential, not only to the fantastic destination of Singapore, but more widely across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand," LGW CEO Stewart Wingate says.
"With significant increases in trade between the UK and Singapore in recent years, the service also provides exciting opportunities for local and regional businesses,” Wingate adds.
