Singapore Airlines’ subsidiary Scoot is reshaping its European network over the coming months by launching direct flights to Vienna while discontinuing service to Berlin.
The LCC will also introduce a new route to Iloilo City in the Philippines but end operations to Jinan, China, as part of a strategy to “better match capacity” with demand and optimize aircraft utilization.
Scoot’s Vienna service is set to begin on June 3, operating three times a week using Boeing 787-8 aircraft with 329 seats across two cabin classes. The airline will become the sole operator of nonstop flights between Singapore and Vienna.
In Southeast Asia, the carrier will commence flights to Iloilo City on April 14, initially offering two roundtrips per week on Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, increasing to four weekly flights from June.
However, Scoot will cease operations to Jinan on Feb. 28 and to Berlin, which it serves via Athens, on March 28. The withdrawal will leave Berlin without flights to Singapore, while Jinan-Singapore service will remain available through daily flights operated by Shandong Airlines.
Scoot handled 1.1 million passengers during December 2024, with a load factor of 89%. The passenger figure marked a year-on-year rise of 2.3%.
In the summer 2025 season, Vienna and Athens will be Scoot’s only nonstop European routes. Meanwhile, Iloilo City will join Angeles/Mabalacat, Cebu, Davao, and Manila as the airline’s fifth destination in the Philippines.
