Barcelona-based Level will increase capacity on its long-haul routes between Barcelona and the Americas for summer 2025, offering more than 652,000 seats. The International Airlines Group subsidiary will operate daily flights to New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Buenos Aires during peak months. South American routes will see a 24% seat increase compared to summer 2024, with Buenos Aires served daily and Santiago de Chile up to four times weekly. In the U.S., Miami and San Francisco will each have four weekly flights from June to September. The expansion follows the addition of a seventh aircraft to Level’s fleet and marks its first summer operating with its own air operator certificate.
Virgin Atlantic has returned to Canada after more than a decade, launching a new daily nonstop service between London Heathrow and Toronto Pearson International Airport. Operated by a Boeing 787-9, the route is expected to carry more than 165,000 passengers annually and includes 20 metric tons of cargo capacity per flight. Service will be daily. “Toronto is not only a thriving financial hub, but also a gateway to one of the most vibrant and diverse countries in the world,” Virgin Atlantic CCO Juha Jarvinen says. “With our strong transatlantic focus, expanded connectivity to India and exciting new partnership with WestJet, the timing couldn't be better.”
Jet2.com is adding Samos to its Greek network during summer 2026. The UK leisure airline will operate services to the island from Manchester and London Stansted airports, offering up to two weekly flights from each base between May and October 2026. The move makes Samos the 15th Greek airport served by the carrier.
British Airways (BA) has launched new services to Kuala Lumpur and Tbilisi. The airline now operates daily nonstop flights between London Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur using Boeing 787-9 aircraft, five years after last serving the Malaysian capital. BA has also resumed flights to Tbilisi for the first time since 2013. “Our teams have worked hard to bring these routes firmly back on our route map, meaning customers have more choice when it comes to travel for work or pleasure across Europe, Asia and beyond,” says BA chief planning and strategy officer, Neil Chernoff.
UK regional carrier Eastern Airways has launched a new domestic route connecting London Southend Airport with Cornwall Newquay Airport, offering daily departures. The inaugural flight took off on April 3.

TAP Air Portugal has resumed flights to Porto Alegre, Brazil, after an 11-month hiatus following widespread flooding in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in May 2024. The Star Alliance member will connect Lisbon and Porto Alegre with three flights a week, operated using Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, with capacity for 298 passengers. “We promised that we would make every effort to get this route operating again as soon as possible—here we are, ready to reconnect this state to Europe. May this route symbolize a new future for Porto Alegre and for TAP,” TAP CEO Luís Rodrigues says.
Air Arabia Abu Dhabi is adding a new nonstop route to Almaty, Kazakhstan, from Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH). Starting June 3, the new service will operate three times a week every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday using Airbus A320s. “This new route reflects our commitment to offering passengers affordable and reliable travel options while enhancing connectivity from the UAE’s capital with key international markets,” Air Arabia CEO Adel Al Ali says. With the addition of Almaty, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi now connects 30 destinations from AUH.
Jetstar has launched its inaugural flight between Christchurch and Cairns. The new service will operate three times a week year-round, enhancing connectivity between New Zealand’s South Island and North Queensland. The Christchurch-Cairns route is one of four new trans-Tasman services Jetstar is rolling out in 2025, with flights from Hamilton to Sydney and the Gold Coast, and Dunedin to the Gold Coast launching soon. In New Zealand, Jetstar has added a Christchurch-based Airbus A320 to its fleet, bringing the local total to eight.
Spanish carrier Volotea has announced a new route connecting Madrid with the Italian coastal city of Ancona, set to launch on Dec. 19. The service will operate 2X-weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, offering over 2,100 seats across approximately 12 flights. Ancona becomes the seventh destination served by the LCC from Madrid, joining Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes, Olbia, Toulouse and Verona. With this addition, Volotea continues to expand its presence in the Spanish capital, where it plans to offer more than 220,000 seats in 2025—up 14% from the previous year.
Transavia has launched nonstop flights from Amsterdam to Agadir, Morocco. Service will be 4X-weekly using a mix of Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A321neo equipment. Looking ahead, the LCC will further expand its Moroccan network with the launch of direct flights to Rabat in November 2025.
Wizz Air has launched a new route connecting Pisa, Italy, with Warsaw, Poland, with flights operating three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The new route expands the ULCC’s Italian network ahead of its busiest summer yet, during which the airline will operate more than 200 routes to 40 countries, offering more than 13 million seats.
Saudia has launched seasonal service between Riyadh and Athens, with the inaugural flight departing King Khalid International Airport on April 2. The route will operate three times per week using Airbus A320 aircraft, targeting growing demand from both leisure and business travelers. Additional connectivity is planned in June, when Saudia will begin flights from Jeddah to the Greek capital.

Vietjet has launched four new nonstop routes connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Beijing Daxing and Guangzhou. The new services include daily flights from Ho Chi Minh City to both Chinese cities, and from Hanoi to Guangzhou. Flights from Hanoi to Beijing currently operate three times per week and will increase to daily service starting April 27. A Hanoi-Shanghai route will also begin daily operations on April 29. “With this expansion, we will continue to provide affordable and convenient travel options for both locals and tourists, further enhancing connectivity between Vietnam and China, and beyond,” says Vietjet Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thanh Ha.
JetSMART has launched a new domestic route in Colombia connecting Cali and Bogotá. The airline now offers 21 weekly frequencies between the two cities. Flights are operated using Airbus A320neo aircraft. According to OAG Schedules Analyser data, Avianca, LATAM Airlines Colombia, Wingo and Clic also operate the route.
Saudia has inaugurated seasonal service between Jeddah and Vienna. Operating three times per week with Airbus A320 aircraft, the new route adds to the airline’s network of more than 100 destinations across four continents. Saudia also plans to launch flights from Riyadh to Vienna in June 2025.
Jet2.com has launched operations from its 13th UK base at London Luton Airport (LTN). The inaugural flight departed for Palma de Majorca on April 1, followed by departures to Tenerife and Antalya, kicking off a summer schedule that includes 17 sunshine destinations across Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Italy and more. Two Airbus A321neo aircraft will be based at LTN, offering up to 36X-weekly flights during the peak summer period. LTN becomes Jet2’s second new base in 2025, following Bournemouth’s debut in February.
Transavia will launch a new year-round route from Rotterdam, Netherlands, to Seville, Spain, starting in November, expanding its network of southern European destinations. The announcement was made as the airline celebrated the launch of two other new routes this week: from Rotterdam to Trieste and London Stansted. The Seville route will be served 3X-weekly.

Vietnam Airlines has launched a new route between Ho Chi Minh City and Beijing’s Daxing International Airport. Operating five times per week with Airbus A321 aircraft, the service expands the carrier’s footprint in China to six routes with 40 weekly flights. “In 2024, Vietnam welcomed 3.7 million visitors from China, a remarkable 214% increase compared to the previous year, making China the fastest-growing tourism market for the country,” a statement from Vietnam Airlines says. Additionally, the carrier is resuming Hanoi-Moscow flights after a three-year hiatus. Service starts on May 8, operating 2X-weekly using Boeing 787 equipment.
KLM has launched a new route connecting Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Exeter, England. Service to Exeter Airport will be daily using an 88-seat Embraer 175 regional jet, operated by KLM Cityhopper. Exeter Airport managing director Stephen Wiltshire described the route as a “game-changer” for the region. “The route is opening up our region to more international visitors, supporting the local economy and tourism industry,” he said. “The strong demand we’ve already seen demonstrates how much this route was needed.”
ITA Airways has launched its new Milan Linate-Munich service as part of its expanded summer 2025 schedule. Service will be 12X-weekly. During the summer 2025 season, the airline will operate flights to 59 destinations—16 intercontinental, 27 international and 16 domestic.
Condor has opened a new base at Vienna Airport, launching daily flights to Frankfurt and direct summer services to Mediterranean destinations including Palma de Mallorca, Kos and Rhodes. The move marks the first time the German leisure airline has stationed an aircraft in Austria. Service between Vienna and Frankfurt will be daily using Airbus A320 aircraft. Additionally, Condor has opened a Frankfurt-Zurich and Frankfurt-Munich service, each of which will be offered 2X-daily.
TAP Air Portugal will operate a new seasonal route connecting Madeira and the Algarve with 2X-weekly flights from June 2 to Sept. 11. The service links Funchal and Faro on Mondays and Thursdays using 106-seat Embraer 190 aircraft. “With this new route, TAP connects two of Portugal's key tourism regions, enhancing mobility for Portuguese travelers while also catering to combined tourist demand,” a statement from the airline says.
Volotea has inaugurated a new route from Paris-Orly to Alghero, Sardinia, marking its sixth connection to Italy from the French capital. The seasonal service will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays. The route complements Volotea’s existing service to Olbia in eastern Sardinia.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is expanding its partnership with Delta Air Lines. Beginning April 2, the extended codeshare agreement between the SkyTeam partners will provide increased frequencies and a wider range of destinations. “We're pleased to take our partnership with Delta to the next level, making it even easier for our customers to travel the world with more choices than ever,” says SAS CCO Paul Verhagen.

LOT Polish Airlines has launched a new route between Krakow and Paris Orly. Initially operating six times per week, the service will become a daily, year-round connection starting April 14. Flights will be operated using Boeing 737-8 aircraft. “We estimate that the number of passengers traveling between Krakow and France will exceed 600,000 this year,” LOT CEO Michał Fijoł says. “We are absolutely certain that the new opportunity to enjoy Paris—with all its cultural, art-related and culinary richness—will be highly popular among our passengers.”
Saudia has inaugurated a new route connecting Jeddah with Bali, Indonesia, marking the airline’s second destination in the country after Jakarta. The service, launched March 31 with 3X-weekly flights, will be operated by Boeing 787 aircraft.
Air Canada has confirmed that a new route between Montreal and Edinburgh will operate three times per week from June 26 through Sept. 6 using Boeing 737-8s. Additionally, the carrier is also increasing capacity on key European routes, adding nearly 1,300 weekly seats to Paris and Athens, and extending its Toronto-Rome schedule through October. The new Montreal-Edinburgh flights complement existing summer service from Toronto.
Avianca has launched nonstop service between Bogotá and Tampa International Airport (TPA), marking the Colombian carrier’s debut at TPA and the airport’s first-ever flights to South America. The new route, which began March 30, operates four times per week using 180-seat Airbus A320neo aircraft.
Qantas has launched a new route connecting Darwin and Singapore, with the inaugural flight departing on March 30. The 4X-weekly service, operated by Boeing 737-800 aircraft, adds more than 70,000 seats annually and is part of the airline’s broader expansion in the Northern Territory (NT). “2025 is a year of growth for Qantas and Jetstar in the NT, with over 180,000 extra seats and two new routes including Singapore with Qantas and the Gold Coast with Jetstar later this year,” says Cam Wallace, CEO of Qantas International.
