Mexican regional carrier TAR Aerolíneas is expanding its domestic network with the launch of four new routes, including two from Querétaro International Airport (QRO). Starting Feb. 24, the airline will launch a 4X-weekly route from QRO to San Luis Potosí (SLP) and a 3X-weekly service to Mexico City’s Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU). The airline aims to strengthen business and tourism ties in the region, with the Querétaro-San Luis Potosí route supporting corporate travel and the NLU connection serving as a bridge to TAR’s hub in Querétaro. Aviation Week Network’s aviation consultancy ASM played a key role in securing the new routes. “The expansion of air services not only strengthens Querétaro’s position in Mexico’s airport network, but also opens up new opportunities for business, tourism and economic development,” says ASM Director of Air Service Development Consulting Dave Appleby. In addition to the new Querétaro routes, TAR plans to launch a 4X-weekly service between La Paz International Airport and Culiacán International Airport, as well as between Monterrey International Airport and SLP.
Icelandair has announced Miami as its newest destination, with 3X-weekly flights launching Oct. 25 and operating through March 2026. Service will be offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays using Airbus A321LR aircraft. “With the new long-range and fuel-efficient Airbus aircraft we are able to add new and exciting destinations, and Miami is a great addition,” says Icelandair President and CEO Bogi Nils Bogason. “Miami will fit well into our route network, with convenient connections via Iceland to our 34 destinations in Europe.”
Royal Air Maroc has launched flights between Casablanca and Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport. The service will operate daily using a Boeing 737-800. The airline last served the route in 2018.
Turkish Airlines subsidiary AJet is adding St. Petersburg, Russia, to its network. Flights from İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) will start on March 15, operating daily. The airline is also introducing a route from SAW to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Operations will be 4X-weekly, starting on March 24.

French Bee will launch a new route to Canada on April 30, offering a service between Paris-Orly Airport and Montreal-Trudeau International Airport. The low-cost, long-haul airline will operate four weekly flights, increasing to five from July 4 to Aug. 31 to accommodate peak summer demand. Flights will be operated using Airbus A350 aircraft. “With the opening of this new Montreal destination, French Bee continues to expand its international network, increasing its number of long-haul destinations from six to seven in response to high demand for business and leisure travel throughout the year,” says French Bee Executive Vice President Gregory Jamet.
Ryanair is adding seven new routes from London Stansted Airport (STN) during the summer 2025 season. New services are to Bodrum and Dalaman, Turkey; Clermont-Ferrand, France; Münster and Lübeck, Germany; Linz, Austria; and Reggio Calabria, Italy. To support the growth, the ULCC will base one additional Boeing 737 at STN, bringing its London-based fleet to 56 aircraft. Group CEO Michael O'Leary used to route announcement to call on the UK government to abolish air passenger duty, saying Chancellor Rachel Reeves should “stop wasting time” talking about a new third runway at London Heathrow Airport.
Colombia’s Aeropuertos de Oriente has announced a new direct connection between Santa Marta and Bucaramanga, operated by Wingo, strengthening air connectivity between the Caribbean region and Santanderes without requiring a stopover in Bogotá. The new route, launching March 30, will operate twice a week on Fridays and Sundays, offering nearly 3,000 seats per month. This marks Wingo’s third route from Santa Marta’s Simón Bolívar International Airport and its second from Bucaramanga’s Palonegro International Airport.
Alaska Airlines has launched a seasonal nonstop service between St. Louis Lambert International Airport and Puerto Vallarta International Airport, Mexico. Flights will be offered weekly through April 5.
Volotea is strengthening its presence in Italy’s Campania region in summer 2025, increasing capacity and expanding its route network across the region. At Naples Capodichino Airport, the airline will grow available seats by 18% to 621,000, up from 525,000 in 2024, while total flights will rise from 3,115 to 3,571. The summer schedule will feature 22 destinations across Italy, Croatia, France, Greece, Spain and Denmark. Volotea is also set to launch its first route from Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport, offering 2X-weekly flights to Marseille starting July 6, operating on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Air India will resume its nonstop services between New Delhi and Tel Aviv from March 2. The airline will operate five roundtrip flights between using Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Flights will be offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Canada’s Porter Airlines is expanding its Ottawa network with a new nonstop route to Victoria, starting May 15. The summer-season service will operate up to four times per week, joining Vancouver as the airline’s second destination in British Columbia from Ottawa. Flights will be operated using 132-seat Embraer 195-E2 aircraft. “Ottawa continues to be a growing market for us. This route provides more passengers the opportunity to discover Porter's award-winning elevated economy experience. With Victoria as our latest addition, travelers now have more options to fly across the country with us,” says Porter Airlines Vice President for Network Planning and Reporting Andrew Pierce.
Kazakhstan-based Air Astana will launch a new Almaty-Mumbai route on April 20. The airline, which first entered the Indian market in 2004, currently operates nine weekly flights to New Delhi, with increased frequencies during the summer. Flights to Mumbai will be operated using Airbus-family aircraft three times a week on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. “With the Indian economy growing strongly, Air Astana is delighted to launch services to Mumbai, a vibrant and flourishing metropolis driven by trade, finance and enterprise,” Air Astana CEO Peter Foster says.
ASL Airlines France will launch two new summer routes to Pristina, Kosovo, with flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Lyon Airport (LYS) starting July 3. The additions mark the airline’s expansion into southeastern Europe, catering to the Kosovar diaspora and travelers seeking to explore the region. Flights from both CDG and LYS will operate every Thursday.
Spain’s Vueling will launch daily flights from London Heathrow Airport to Bilbao and Santiago de Compostela starting March 30, expanding its UK network. The LCC already operates 26 weekly flights to both destinations from Gatwick. The new routes increase Vueling’s UK capacity by 16%.

Pegasus Airlines will launch its first-ever route to Aarhus Airport (AAR), Denmark, from Antalya, Turkey, starting May 9. The service will operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. “The direct route between Antalya and Aarhus has long been in demand by tour operators, holiday-makers and people with Turkish roots, who already know Pegasus Airlines for their high service and low prices,” AAR CEO Lotta Sandsgaard says. She adds the new route is expected to attract travelers from the region who currently fly from Copenhagen or Hamburg.
Canada’s Porter Airlines will launch year-round service between Toronto Pearson International Airport and New York’s LaGuardia Airport starting May 1, with up to three daily roundtrip flights. The route will operate from LaGuardia’s newly redeveloped Terminal B and will utilize Porter’s 132-seat Embraer 195-E2 aircraft. The addition complements the airline’s existing New York operations at Newark Liberty International Airport, where the airline has served the market since 2008. Combined, Porter will offer up to 15 daily roundtrips in the New York-New Jersey area.
Philippine Airlines (PAL) will launch a 3X-weekly nonstop route between Manila and Beijing Capital International Airport starting March 30. The service will operate using Airbus A321 aircraft. It adds to PAL’s existing network in mainland China, with daily flights to Shanghai, Xiamen and Quanzhou. “We believe that the Manila-Beijing service will help boost tourism, enhance trade and deepen the friendly ties between the Filipino and Chinese people,” PAL President and CCO Stanley K. Ng says.
Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways will launch a third daily flight to Milan starting Nov. 1. The combined triple-daily service will see the airline offer 12,600 seats per week between Abu Dhabi and Milan, representing a year-on-year capacity increase of almost 115%. The services will operate on Boeing 777-300 and Airbus A321LR aircraft.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has launched new domestic routes in Sweden connecting Stockholm Arlanda Airport with Halmstad City Airport and Kalmar Öland Airport. Flights are operated by the carrier’s wet-lease partner Braathens Regional Airlines. "We are very pleased to begin operations to Halmstad and Kalmar, as this is a natural step in SAS' long-term commitment to enhancing travel options within Sweden and internationally,” says SAS Vice President for Global Sales Edward Fotheringham.

Delta Air Lines will restart daily nonstop service to Tel Aviv from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on April 1, utilizing its Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. The airline says the decision to restart flights to Israel “follows a comprehensive security review, conducted in close coordination with government and private-sector partners.” Delta also has a codeshare agreement in place with El Al Israel Airlines that enables Delta passengers to book El Al’s nonstop flights to Tel Aviv from major U.S. cities such as JFK, Newark, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
Wizz Air has announced an expansion in Romania’s capital Bucharest, adding two Airbus A321neo aircraft and establishing a permanent base at Bucharest Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport (BBU). Starting April 1, the ULCC will start based operations from BBU with one A321neo and launch routes to Abu Dhabi from March 30; London Luton from April 1; and Warsaw from June 9. Additionally, the carrier will station an additional aircraft at its existing Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) base and open new routes to Gran Canaria from June 17; Frankfurt Hahn from Aug. 1; and Friedrichshafen from Aug. 2. Nine routes from OTP will also see increased frequencies. Overall, the expansion brings Wizz’s Bucharest-based fleet to 21 aircraft and supports an 18% capacity increase for summer 2025, adding nearly 750,000 seats.
Norse Atlantic Airways is launching a new route between Athens International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). From June 3, flights will run four times a week, operated using Boeing 787 aircraft. “We expect the uptake to be positive as we offer this budget-friendly route, opening up more transatlantic options for our customers and the opportunity to explore the ancient city of Athens and rich history of Los Angeles,” says Norse founder and CEO Bjørn Tore Larsen.
South Korea’s Air Premia has inaugurated a route between Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) and Da Nang, Vietnam. Flights will be 4X-weekly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Additionally, the airline has commenced a route connecting ICN and Hong Kong International Airport. Frequencies will also be 4X-weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Armenian Airlines is opening a new route between Yerevan and New Delhi from Feb. 21, becoming the sole nonstop flight between Armenia and India. Flights will be offered twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays using Airbus A321 equipment. The flight duration on the eastbound leg is about 4 hr. 40 min., while the return journey is 5 hr. 10 min. Armenian Airlines says passengers will be able to connect via Yerevan to points in Russia, including Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport.
