ROUTES AFRICA: Shortlist for Regional Airport Marketing Awards Announced
Voting closed earlier this month for the fourth regional heat of the 2012 Routes Airport Marketing Awards, covering the Africa region and the airports shortlisted for the award have now been confirmed.
Whichever airport wins this highly sought after industry accolade will be automatically shortlisted in their region for the World Routes Airport Marketing Awards which will take place at the event in Abu Dhabi, 29th September – 2nd October 2012. Already shortlisted for the World Routes Marketing Awards are Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Darwin International Airport, Brussels Airport and St Petersburg Pulkovo International Airport who were announced earlier in the year as the overall winners of the Americas, Asia, European and CIS regional heats, respectively.
Being automatically shortlisted for a World Routes Airport Marketing Award means that the airport does not need votes from outside their region and this will give them the chance to win a globally recognised industry award, no matter their size or region.
Over the last few months airlines have been voting for the airports who they feel have made the most efficient use of their marketing over the last 12 months. Airlines were asked to take into account the airport’s market research activities, marketing communications, business case presentations and joint communication campaigns with third parties. From the airports nominated the following have been shortlisted: Ghana - Kotoka International Airport, Accra; Tanzania – Julius Nyerere International Airport; Tanzania - Dar es Salaam; Uganda – Entebbe International Airport; Gambia – Banjul International Airport and South Africa - ACSA O R Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg
The winner and the highly commended airports will be announced during tonight's Networking Evening at Routes Africa in Seychelles.
