EAGLE SWOOPS INTO NASHVILLE
American Eagle has announced that it will begin new non-stop services from New York, JFK to Nashville. Beginning April 5th it will add a daily connection to be operated with E145 equipment and will be the only carrier operating the route non-stop. IATA BSP data shows that over 45,000 O+D passengers flew the route between July 2009 and July 2010.
AEROMEXICO TO BEGIN NEW NORTH AMERICAN SERVICES
SkyTeam operator Aeromexico has announced new scheduled services with the introduction this winter of two new non-stop routes. Beginning November 20th, it will launch a daily service from Guadalajara to Ontario, whilst from December 1st will launch a seasonal service from Monterrey to Miami to be operated with regional equipment. From December 6th, Aeromexico will also boost scheduled flying from Mexico City to Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York (JFK) and Las Vegas, with all routes receiving scheduled weekly increases.
AVIANCA DISCONTINUES LAX ROUTE
Colombian national carrier Avianca looks set to discontinue its scheduled service from Bogota to Los Angeles. Avianca is currently the only carrier operating the route and has a 50% market share of the annual O+D traffic with Continental, American and Delta hubbing the majority of the remaining passengers via Houston, Miami and Atlanta respectively.
AIRTRAN TO CANCEL DALLAS FLIGHT
Low-cost operator, AirTran will discontinue its scheduled flights from Milwaukee to Dallas Fort Worth effective January 3rd, 2011. The twice-weekly rotation will be cancelled leaving American Airlines and Frontier Airlines serving the route. IATA BSP data shows that over 149,000 O+D passengers have flown the route between July 2009-2010.
A BUSY WEEK AT AMERICAN AIRLINES
Oneworld member, American Airlines has announced expansion into Mexico from its Dallas hub with new services to Queretaro and Veracruz from February 10th with both routes to be operated on a daily basis. Between July 2009 and July 2010, over 1.8 million O+D passengers flew between Texas and Mexico.
American Airlines has also announced that on the same day it will increase scheduled flying from Chicago to Champaign from five to six daily, and from Chicago to Fort Wayne from three to four weekly.
