Spirit Expands in Colombia
Spirit Airlines will launch a non-stop three-times weekly service between Fort Lauderdale and Barranquilla, northern Colombia on July 29.
It is the fifth destination served by Spirit between Fort Lauderdale and Colombia and the route will use an A319 aircraft. The carrier currently flies to Armenia, Bogota, Cartagena and Medellin.
Air France to Increase Service to Chile
Air France is adding a sixth weekly non-stop flight to Santiago from Paris in September and October. It will then continue to operate a daily flight between November and March next year.
The airline's manager in Chile, Thibaud Morand, announced that while traffic between Europe and Chile declined 15% after the earthquake on February 27, demand is recovering and he is positive about the new service.
ASUR In $30 Million Investment
Mexican airport group, ASUR, which manages a number of airports in southern Mexico plans to invest $30 million (280 million pesos) over the next three years to consolidate Merida International Airport into "one of best in the country and competitive on a worldwide basis" it said in a statement. This is in addition to a $49 million investment in 2009. It's all about the driver: tourism.
