Last week sales for Routes Africa 2012 were officially launched and already airports and airlines from the African region and beyond have shown a great deal of interest by confirming their attendance at the event.
The 7th Routes Africa event will take place on 8-10 July hosted by the Seychelles Tourism Board in partnership with the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority. The event will take place in the Seychelles capital Victoria and is expected to attract up to 150 delegates.
Many airlines had registered to attend before the official launch took place such as Air Seychelles, South African Airways, Turkish Airlines and all the Middle East majors; Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways and Emirates Airline who will attend Routes Africa for the first time. This week airline registrations have come from Saudi Arabian Airlines and two more first time attendees; Rwandair, Astral Aviation and Malaysia Airlines Cargo.
South African Airways also confirmed this week that they will deliver a Route Exchange Airline Briefing at the event and as they are the first carrier to do so more are expected to confirm over the coming weeks.
Airport registrations have also been flooding in this week with Swaziland Civil Aviation Authority, Kilimanjaro International Airport, Kenya Airports Authority and first time attendee Ras Al Khaimah International Airport joining those who registered prior to the sales launch. Other airports attending Routes Africa for the first time this year include Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Bangalore International Airport.
