Our Route Opportunities feature explores the latest unserved and underserved routes promoted through Routes 360, providing supporting information for airline network planners to consider and capitalize on.

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA), the largest airport in England’s Yorkshire region, served 4.24 million passengers in 2024, marking a 5.8% increase from 2023, connecting them to more than 80 destinations across Europe and Africa through 10 airline partners.

The airport also recorded nearly 32,000 flights during 2024, a 6.2% rise compared to the previous year, as it works toward its goal of accommodating 7 million passengers annually by 2030.

Recent route successes include easyJet's expansion to Spanish destinations Malaga and Palma, set to begin in March 2025, following the launch of its Geneva service in January. Jet2.com has also bolstered its operations at LBA, adding a 15th aircraft to support expanded services to destinations including Majorca, Reus, Faro, Kefalonia, Zante, Bourgas, Rome, and Verona.

LBA’s Vision 2030 plan, supported by £100 in private investment, aims to enhance terminal facilities, improve runway and air traffic control infrastructure, and elevate the passenger experience. Phase 1 of the project is set to be completed in summer 2025.

As a member of Routes 360, the only digital platform dedicated to route development, LBA has uploaded multiple route opportunities to its profile. While actively sourcing new routes across the Middle East and Africa, the airport has recently shown interest in further European destinations such as Düsseldorf, Copenhagen and Istanbul.
