BOGOTA—Traffic is on the rise at Wisconsin's Green Bay Austin International Airport (GRB), swelling by 9.4% to 670,000 passengers in 2023 compared with the previous year.
Airport Director Marty Piette says the rise stems from increased capacity from legacy carriers American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, alongside the return of several popular Florida destinations served by Frontier Airlines and Sun Country Airlines.
Explaining that traffic is back to 2019 levels—the airport’s busiest year in two decades—Piette says "2023 was a good year for GRB." Leisure travel remains the key driver, although business traffic has rebounded strongly, Piette adds.
GRB, which alongside Discover Green Bay will be the destination sponsor for the seventh TakeOff North America event, is located about 8 mi. southwest of downtown Green Bay and serves a catchment from northeastern Wisconsin.
The city is home to the famous Green Bay Packers and in April 2025 will host the NFL Draft, the football league's biggest off-season event. The airport says the Draft provides an opportunity to showcase the city, although it will be a challenge to “[ensure] passengers from all corners of the U.S. are able to fly here for the week-long events.”
