From The Floor: New Tobago Airport Terminal To Enhance International Links

The upcoming completion of a new terminal at ANR Robinson International Airport (TAB) in Tobago is expected to attract new carriers and increase international routes, strengthening the island’s role as a gateway to the Caribbean.
The $870 million terminal is set for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2025 and is expected to be fully operational by mid-year.
Speaking at Routes Americas 2025, Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago Corporate Communications Manager Zola Joseph emphasized the significance of the project.
“With this new terminal, we are signaling to the world that Tobago is open for business,” Joseph told Aviation Week. “With increased interest from international and regional carriers, the authority can enhance its role by introducing new direct routes to high-demand markets such as North America, Europe, South America and beyond.”

The terminal opening at TAB follows a year of expanded air service at Port of Spain’s Piarco International Airport (POS), Trinidad. In 2024, Frontier Airlines launched a direct route between POS and San Juan, Puerto Rico, while LIAT 2020 introduced service from Antigua.
Joseph described the latter as a “key milestone” in strengthening regional connectivity and offering travelers more inter-island travel options.
Looking ahead, Joseph said the authority is focusing on opportunities for connectivity and accessibility to new markets in South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. “We are also targeting the expansion of routes into Europe, North America and within the Caribbean region,” she added.
