JAZEERA HEADS TO EGYPT

Effective December 1st, Kuwait City based Jazeera Airways will commence new low-cost service to Sohag, Egypt. The route will be operated thrice-weekly. It will be the first scheduled non-stop service between the two markets.

RAK SET FOR CAIRO LAUNCH021210 rak

Ras-al-Khaimah based RAK Airways will commence non-stop service to Cairo, Egypt from December 15th. The route will be operated with B737-800 aircraft on a thrice-weekly basis.

NAS AIR TO COMMENCE DELHI LINK

Saudi Arabia’s major low-cost airline Nasair, began scheduled services from Riyadh to Delhi, December 2nd. It will operate the route on a thrice-weekly basis with A320 equipment and will compete with Air India which operates the route twice-weekly and Saudi Arabian Airlines which operates the route five-times weekly. IATA BSP data shows that over 226,000 O+D passengers flew the route between September 2009 and September 2010 with Saudi Arabian Airlines having a 34% share of the market.

ROYAL JORDANIAN RESUMES BERLINroyal

Royal Jordanian has announced that it will resume non-stop services to Berlin Tegel from its Amman hub. After a ten year Hiatus. The new route will re-commence June 2nd and will be operated on a twice-weekly basis. There is currently no non-stop service between the city pairs.

WATANIYA MAKES A NUMBER OF ROUTE CUTSwataniya

Kuwait based carrier Wataniya Airways has announced that effective December 4th it will discontinue four routes 4, citing excess capacity on some of its markets. Also, the airline is only operating 4 of its 7 Airbus A320 aircraft.

Affected destinations are:

Amman (currently 5 weekly)
Bahrain (currently 12 weekly)
Damascus (currently 5 weekly)
Jeddah (currently 2 weekly)
