TURKISH DELIGHT FOR SOUTH AFRICA
Star Alliance member, Turkish Airlines has announced that it will increase scheduled services from Istanbul to Johannesburg and Cape Town. It currently operates these markets on a triangular routing and a fifth weekly frequency will be added effective January 17th. The service will be operated with A330-300 equipment.
AIGLE AZUR TO INTRODUCE SCHEDULED IRAQ FLIGHTS
French operator, Aigle Azur has announced that from December 19th, it will begin scheduled non-stop flights from Paris CDG to Baghdad, Iraq. The route will be operated twice-weekly and will be operated with A319 equipment.
TURKISH INCREASES LIBYAN CAPACITY
Turkish Airlines will increase scheduled services from Istanbul Ataturk to Benghazi, Libya from the current four-times weekly to a daily service from January 12th. The route is currently operated with B737-800 equipment. The route is also operated by Libyan Airlines on a twice-weekly basis and Buraq Air, also twice-weekly.
EDELWEISS TO OPEN BEIRUT LINK
Edelweiss Air is to open new services to Tripoli next June with a three-times weekly service from Zurich. The leisure operator will codeshare on the route with Swiss International Airlines. IATA BSP data show that just over 12,000 O+D passengers flew between the two cities between July 2009 and July 2010.
CHINA EASTERN TO RESUME KUNMING TO DUBAI NON-STOP
China Eastern Airlines has announced that it will begin non-stop flights from Kunming to Dubai effective January 3rd on a daily basis. Dubai is currently served via a stop in Dhaka, Bangladesh which will be maintained on a thrice-weekly basis.
