We have become accustomed to the tougher security checks at airports and the changing legislation around what we can and can’t take onboard an aircraft. But, one passenger in the US was recently shocked to discover that she was classed as a potential terrorism threat due to a manicure she had just a day before flying.
The passenger was passing through Austin Straubel International Airport on her way to Memphis International Airport in April when she was detained by security after traces of explosives were discovered on her body during a random hand swab. Apparently one of the of the products that was used to add false nail tips to the end of each of the passenger’s fingers was a highly flammable ingredient that is included on the TSA’s band substance list.
After a brief delay and subsequent checks, the shocked passenger was allowed to board the aircraft.
